“Noisy, not a good time to stay.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

We asked for an ocean view and also for the less noisy building possible as we were warned by timeshare company that construction is going on. Were told by phone call (thanks for the honesty) and at desk that we would be at the Garden Villa area but that the noise wouldn't be too bad bc it had been going on longer than the beach construction area. Not! The beachside villas had beach views and quiet.....

Construction starts at 9 (once at 8 with concrete pouring) and ends at 5; this was warned to us so we did expect it; extremely noisy, so we did take the day trips we had planned.....

Again, we were told the truth before we left home but wonder if all the units were filled (ocean view) by the owners (our view is overlooking a huge mess ((preparing for beautiful pool and facilities))......we don't mind the walk to the activities....

No restaurant (except a market w soup/sandwiches/convenience items), no bar....outdoor pool (heated) had to be closed for maintenance mid week; no tennis, put-put, there are bikes to rent.....

Our unit is great, large, w/dryer, balcony but it faces the construction....but we do love all the amenities of the unit....

Weather nicer than at home; 60's and a few days of sun.....

The management and staff were eager to make us happy w movies, free wine/beer tastings, breakfast, more than usual, nice of them....

Just disappointed in the lack of things to do (we aren't golfers) and with the noise and view of muddy construction outside our unit with bulldozers, etc. Asked to move? No, too full.

Like the people, like the unit, but seems there is more at the other Marriott properties...and the construction!

Room Tip: Do not get a room in the Garden villas unless you don't mind daytime noise.

“Our "home away from home"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We try to visit Hilton Head at least once a year and have been owners at Marriott Barony Beach Club in the "Gardens" section since 1999. We often go there during the months of April and May and the weather is absolutely PERFECT! We are big golfers and beach goers as well. The property is located on a pristine stretch of wide beach (chairs and umbrellas are available for rent). The villa rooms are very well appointed, immaculately clean, feature fully furnished kitchens (including that all important blender for cocktail hour!), DVD players, free wireless internet, whirlpool baths as well as showers and each villa has a balcony. There are gas grills available for those who would prefer to dine in. Pools are clean and well tended as are the hot tubs. The Ocean front pools are beehives of activity and also feature a poolbar while the Gardens pool offers a quieter, more peaceful spot for an afternoon snooze. Love this place!!

“Great spot right on the beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

This is a very nice property in a good spot on Hilton Head. It's a bit removed from the main action on the island, so might not be the best spot if you are looking for the night life, unless you are prepared to take a cab or have a D.D.

Otherwise, the property is great and well cared for. The units themselves are well equiped and very nice. Not all units have ocean views, but the views overlooking the gardens and pools are also very nice. Parking is convenient, there are elevators if you need them and there are lots of nice walking paths and trails, as with most places on Hilton Head. Grocery stores and other shopping are a 5 minute drive. There are no ice machines in the buildings, and if you want ice, you have to go to the store / restaurant and they may or may not make you pay for ice despite it not being otherwise available.

Room Tip: Probably ask if there is anything with an ocean view available, which is always nicer.

“Unexpected After Christmas Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

We stayed from 12/30/11 to 01/06/12. The resort was the nicest place I have ever traveled. The staff was superior. The amenities were excellent and there were daily activities for everyone. Myself, a 9 year old daughter, a 3 year old son, and two elderly grandparents made up our travel party. The indoor pool was as warm as bath water. I can not say enough about how wonderful this resort is. I found it lacking in nothing.
