We had a terrible experience with this hotel. When my husband called for reservations, he talked to a foreign person who could barely speak understandable English. He reserved an oceanfront room with king bed. When we arrived, we were told we had a room with a queen Murphy bed, that the hotel was under renovation, that only first floor rooms were available because the second and third floors were being renovated, that the restaurant was closed, that renovation work might start as early as 8:00 a.m. None of this was disclosed at the time of reservation. They did switch us to a king room with a view of the parking lot. Also be aware that there is a $10 resort fee added on to the room rate. We will definitely not come back to this hotel.

The hotel staff is friendly; the hotel location is nice (though few rooms actually face the ocean); the rooms are plain but contemporary; and Hilton Head Island is a nice place to be.

The hotel is under construction (as of Dec. 2011). When we checked in, the concierge informed us that only the first and second floor were available and that construction was underway in the top three floors. There are large work sites in the hotel i.e., the common areas next to the pool have been gutted and are dusty, the gated areas in the walkway attempt to conceal building materials, and there are several dumpsters in the rear parking lot that obstruct the view of a third of the rooms on the first floor. One of the elevators is out of commission during this construction project.

Since I visited the island during off-season, I anticipate that the construction will be completed soon enough. For the price and friendliness alone, I would stay here in the post-construction future.

I would recommend this hotel as a convenient and budget-friendly stay. I would recommend a different hotel for someone seeking a luxurious and romantic stay.

The overall impression was beautiful and clean, but the one thing I came to do was relax and sleep. I was unable to with the hard beds. I ended up waking up a few times to finally lay all the pillows down from both beds to sleep on. LOL. So much for being green! But overall, a good experience.

I booked this room sight unseen and was thrilled that the pool was wonderful, beach access was perfect, it was walking distance from shopping and restaurants, and staff members were amazing, especially desk clerk Jonathan. Don't pay for an ocean view if you plan to be outside as I was. Also, request a partial view for the lowest price, 3rd through 5th floors. Jonathan accommodated this. I visited in November and loved seeing dolphins not far from shore. Another tourist advised us to visit Harbour Town, but to be honest, I was happy with the nearby shopping and restaurants and felt as though I'd wasted a day and the admission price to Harbour Town. If Jonathan is your desk clerk, he knows EVERYTHING! They are remodeling so I'm anxious to see it after Feb. of 2012.
