“Relaxing Resort with all the Disney touches”

My family and I rented a 2 bedroom villa over the christmas holiday. It is not the first time we have stayed there for the holidays. We enjoy it so much, that this was our 4th trip back to the resort.

The resort is rustic themed and very peaceful. The grounds are well maintained and the rooms are spacious. The 2 bedroom villa was comfortable enough for me, my husband, my brother and parents. The master (which my parents had) had a king size bed and a large master bath with tub. The second bedroom had 2 queen size beds, a table and chairs and a large bathroom. The living room and kitchen were very spacious. We had room to put up a small tree. There was plenty of room around the kitchen table for all 5 of us. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a large christmas dinner. We especially enjoyed to large deck. It has a large picnic table and rocking chairs. We strung up lights along the deck and would sit out there at night drinking hot chocolate. I mentioned how peaceful this place is, right?

As someone who has in a way grown up at this resort, I can tell you that this is a great family location. As kids, my brother and I would participate in organized games around the resort. The pool was always fun. Disney also organizes different activities throughout the day. As kids, we painted shirts and went kayaking. This time, they had Santa come visit and organized a campfire session complete with smores. If you are looking to do things independently as a family, the have a pool table in the main hall and rent bikes. We continued our tradition of renting bikes and biking down to the Disney Beach house. The beach is a fabulous place to take the bikes. The beach house is really nice. It has it's own pool and beach access with parking. Disney also has a shuttle that will take you over there.

Overall, this is a wonderful place to stay. The staff is wonderful and always make our stay enjoyable. The only negative I have is that they do not allow dogs at all which I find very odd considering that Shadow the dog is the resort mascot and also that Hilton Head is incredibly dog friendly. I understand the need to have rooms available to those who are allergic, but to not allow dogs anywhere on the grounds seems a little strict.

“Really cool rooms!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The rooms were really cool each room had its own tv which I thought was a huge plus!! The tiles had cute little doggie prints on them. The staff was really nice and they even had the dog shadow up in front as a greeter! We only stayed one night but I wish we could have stayed longer it was awesome!!

“Fantastic! Superlative! Etc, etc.”

We were fortunate enough to recieve a gift of a weekend at this resort. It far, far exceeded our high expectations. We used online checkin and simply walked in, got our key and a site map. Ten minutes after driving thru the gate, we were having a couple of cold ones on the deck of our villa! The villas are furnished in the style of a family cabin (well, upscale cabin). Our two BR villa was much larger than anticipated and had everything, I mean EVERYTHING that we needed. We never even started our car during a 3 day stay. I cook...alot. There was a nice selection of pots, pans, utensils (bottle opener, corkscrew, measuring spoons, etc.), plate, bowls, glasses, baking dishes...I could go on. We cooked several meals and never opened my "flyaway" knife set (sadly, I travel with my own knives when I anticipate cooking). The beds were premium bedding, the bathrooms nicely furnished with top quality sundry items and the whole place was super clean. The only glitch was that one of the jets of the jacuzzi tub was inop...hardly worth mentioning during our stay...we reported it when we checked out. The outdoor pool is heated to around 85 deg and the entire staff was courteous. Some of the activities are a bit pricey (the pizza and movie was $25, bicycle rental $20/day--much cheaper off site), but a family could have a great long weekend and never go off the island. We were gladly surprised to see the villas did not have a Disney theme, rather, they were just a nice place to spend a few days. We will definitely return, even if we spend our own $$$. I'm on the road quite a bit and know what level of excellence in simple tasks it takes to make such an impression on me....this resort was "over the top" in all areas. We had a great time!

Room Tip: Some units are marsh-view, some harbor-view, either are great choices.

“Great place to stay in Hilton Head!”

We made our first visit to Hilton Head in October 2011. The Disney Resort there was great! We had a second floor studio which overlooked the marsh. So peaceful and quiet. The resort is located next to a marina with some wonderful restaurants and shops. All of them had outdoor dining, as well. It is a great place to walk around, also. The Resort is not located on a beach, but their beach is across the street and the resort has complimentary transportation to get you there. The beach is beautiful and Disney has their own pool and beach house there as well with restrooms and a counter service restaurant. Can't wait to go back!

“Laid back atmosphere. Very friendly service.”

First time in HHI and the location is very lush and beautiful. 2BR was huge. Style is rustic (and a little dark) but still good quality as you'd expect from Disney. Front desk lady checking us in was as friendly as can be. Everything seemed laid-back and it was a good place to just relax as opposed to rushing to sightsee. Beach House was also nice, but also low-key and quiet at this time of year.

People may be scared of the name "Disney" meaning too hectic/too corporate - don't worry, it's not at all. As others have mentioned, no real onsite (sit down) dining, but that isn't a problem assuming you have a car.
