I've stayed in the Main Street Inn many times while visiting elderly parents in Hilton Head. I'm amazed at some of the negative expressed here. Miserly breakfast? Bad housekeeping? Breakfast includes a generous offering of cereals and yogurts, fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, an assortment of breads and sweet rolls. My room has never been anything but spotless. The hotel is built around a charming courtyard with all rooms facing the courtyard, which includes wrought iron furniture, a lovely lap pool and a jacuzzi that I've never used (so can't comment on the water temperature). Staff is friendly but not intrusive. I wouldn't recommend this for families with young children -- go to a beachfront resort hotel for that. Located in a a quiet secluded inland area, ten minutes from the beach and within easy walking distance to restaurants and shops in Main Street Village. For couples, business travelers, and people like me traveling alone it's perfect. The complimentary wine hour in the beautifully furnished lounge is a nice chance for casual conversation. I love this hotel.
