“Always stay at Hilton Head Resort!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

I enjoy the beach, the ocean and the island of Hilton Head, and I don't think when you consider price, location, ammenities and safety, that you can rent anything nicer for the money than a condo at Hilton Head Resort. The cost does vary some depending on which condo you rent, but the average cost for a week in the summer is about $550 to $650 plus some fees. For 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a nice sized living, dining, kitchen area and often a balcony, it's more than reasonable. I've paid more for much smaller in the past, which is why I keep coming back! The grounds and pools are always clean, you see security around all the time. If you don't want to go out to eat, you can get decent sandwichs, pizza, and salads & more there too, reasonably. Or there's Cocos out by the beach for drinks and food too. Yes, you do have to cross the marsh to reach the beach but the walk takes about 10-12 minutes from when I close the condo door until I'm off the boardwalk in sand. I often also rode the tram, which ran frequently. I recommend HHR to anyone looking for a reasonable, very enjoyable and safe place to vacation.

Room Tip: I prefer rooms with a balcony-enjoyable in the evening, but would not advise if you have small child...

“Nice Vacation”

After going back and forth, we finally decided to stay at the Hilton Head Resort. Our condo was located in the building with the indoor pool. The actual resort grounds are nice. The outside pool appeared bigger in the pictures, but wasn't that big. The indoor pool and spa was very nice. It wasn't very crowded so we really was able to enjoy ourselves. The walk to the beach wasn't bad, and we had no problem catching the little "shuttle" to take us back and forth. The drinks at Coco's were good, and the bartender wasn't lacking on giving you plenty of alcohol..lol! The beach was very private and nice. There are chairs/umbrellas available for rent if you like, but most people brought their own. I would recommend Hilton Head Resort, especially if you can find a nice updated condo.

“Great place for couples or families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2011

This hotel has all the amenities you might need. It's a great place to stay with the kids, because on the rainy days you can use an indoor pool. There are lots of tennis courts, and the grocery store is pretty much across the street. There is a golf cart shuttle that takes you to the beach if you don't want to use the boardwalk they have. The only thing that was scary is that they have small alligators on the property running freely. So watch your children closely. Also, there are only coupl of elevators , so it takes a long time to get to your room. Otherwise, rooms are clean, pools are great, and location is very central.

“One week at Hilton Head Resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2011

My wife "won" a weeks vacation at Hilton Head Resort in a golf outing silent auction fund raiser. Neither of us had been to Hilton Head prior to this.

The resort is actually a condo complex consisting of four inter-connected buildings. I would not use the work "awful", but the place is showing 25+ years of wear and tear. The inside of our unit was freshly painted and tiled, though you can see that the drywall patching was done quickly and poorly. About half of the exterior hallways had old nasty carpet, the others had the carpet removed. To be fair, it appears that they are trying to clean the place up, though it looks like it is being done on the cheap.

There is a 24 hour security gate to enter the complex. Security guards were always friendly. The courtyard of the first building had the main swimming pool along with a small store. The courtyard of the 2nd building appeared to have a sundeck. The 3rd building had an enclosed courtyard with an indoor pool. Finally, the 4th building courtyard had tennis courts in it. Access to the beach was a 10-15 minute walk along a boardwalk over a salt marsh.

Hilton Head Island is full of "plantations" which are essentially gated communities full of million dollar houses and marina's with million dollar yacht's. Hilton Head Resort is located between a couple of these plantations. Hilton Head Resort seems to me to be the poor man's (average man's) means to say they own a place on Hilton Head. It is quite a different experience between here and the "plantations".

Our teenagers enjoyed the pools and beach. They had a good time here. My wife and I spent time exploring the rest of the island and saw the disparity between here and other places. I would rate our experience as Hilton Head Resort as "average". If you are just looking for a relatively inexpensive base on Hilton Head Island and/or are they type of person who enjoys lying on the beach for hours per day, this place will satisfy your needs.

“Great place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011 via mobile

The staff was very friendly and the 2 pools, one for adults and one for families, makes for a peaceful place to stay. The food was good and the resort was very very clean. Can't wait to return!
