I spent most of a week at the hotel for a business trip. The service for the hotel is really good. The desk staff is very professional and helpful. The hotel manager greeted me on check-in (I'm Platinum) and the room and the property was clean. The food was pretty good too, although they claim that they have a breakfast buffet every day, but at least on one day of my stay it wasn't offered. .

The internet was almost non-existent, and that includes both the wired and the wireless. They left letters for everyone claiming that they apologized for the internet problems and had their ISP upgrade the system. The system may have been upgraded, but it still didn't function well. They called it "high-speed", but it was anything but. It was difficult to conduct any business while there.

The is the opportunity to be nickle-and-dimed to death while there. Local phone calls are free for the first 20 minutes and then it's 10 cents a minute (I had a teleconference that I needed to conduct and had to use my cellphone). Didn't pricing like that go away more than a decade ago when dial-up internet went away? They won't unlock the refrigerator unless you have it stocked by them (that's a pretty stupid system), and if they run out of self-park parking, then you have to valet. A can of coke from the coke machine is $2.00 (and the one on my floor wouldn't accept dollar bills). There is normally a fee for for the internet.

The decor is straight from the 80s, although some of the room furnishings have been updated. They still have tube-type TVs. They have a nautical theme which goes nicely with the property, although the vertical stripe hall wallpaper is almost enough to give someone vertigo. The A/C worked well - they have a central chiller system, so there's not a unit sticking out of the wall to rattle all night. I slept really well while staying there.

It's obvious that the hotel management does not understand what the basic expectations of today's traveler are. Unless a very good price is negotiated, I would stay elsewhere that has more modern services.

Quite awesome location and great grounds/landscaping. A bit chilly in October. I spotted crocodiles every time I past by the canals along shipyard drive around the hotel. Took some pictures also. Rooms are just average and slightly dated!

he big thing with this hotel is the beach. it is on this wonderfull beach. the food here is overpriced and the rooms are just average. the beach is the payoff for this hotel

And make sure when you are there, go into the little store in the lobby and say, "hello" to Mary. She is the buyer for the store and has very ecclectic tastes and a sense of humor...Thanks, Mary....
