“Great Resort, Excellent Amenities”

I just came back from a long weekend with my wife at Palmetto Dunes. We are from South Carolina, and customarily stay at Sea Pines or the Coligny Circle area, but we will definitely consider Palmetto Dunes in the future. They have excellent bike trails, beach access areas via the Disney Beach house or the Dunes Beach Club. The beaches are great, and the Shelter Cove area just across the road offers many dining experiences (some better than others, check UrbanSpoon for reviews) . This is a great place to visit for couples, singles, or family. You can really find some great deals via VRBO, but keep in mind that all units are individually owned so check the pics before you book. I actually wrote a blog about my experience at http://www.travelvulture.com/?p=215 if anyone is interested.

Room Tip: Look for pictures prior to booking.

We had a great time at this resort. Right on the beach. Lots of activities, and a friendly, helpful staff.

we stayed in a vaction villa found on VRBO - cannot say enough about our time on HHI - beach was great, rented bikes and enjoyed being close to so much!

“Hilton Head Island - you are in your own class - AAA Class!”

What a splendid vacation in Hilton Head at Palmetto Dunes. We stayed for one week under the canopy of beautiful trees, amazing and relaxing beach, star gazing, beautiful natural environment, and a nice pool for both adult and children. Our bicycling to Harbour Town was fun. The little swingers golf program at Tom Jones golf course for our three year old was very enjoyable - she remembered the moves (a definite plus). The dolphin watch was really nice. We stayed at Windsor Place 404 and I must say that this unit needs some cosmetic upgrade. We had a small problem with our washing machine and by escalating our concern to the Property Manager Linda, her proactive response resolved our issue (two thumbs up). Another area of concern, the bed was so soft that it took three days to settle in the bed. Both my wife and I did not like the soft bed as it gave us both sore backs. HHI's focus on greener environmental (reducing night light and uplight) is amazing (I think each City should visit HHI to learn about environmental conservation) but we were not used to co-mingling of the garbage. I believe HHI should do more to divert waste from landfill - recycling (plastic, paper, waste and organic waste) program should have been offered at Palmetto Dunes and the residential units. Diverting waste at the source will reduce contamination of the garbage at the waste station. All in all, there are more pluses than minuses and we will definitely return back for more memories.

Room Tip: Check the Palmetto Dunes website to see all the units before commiting. Compare the price to Vacati...

“Best resort stay in 30 years of travelling to the States”

Everything about our week in Palmetto Dunes, from check -in to leaving, was excellent. Some resorts seem very impersonal to us, but they could not have been friendlier or more helpful here. Our apartment, the view, the beach, the pool, the bikes, everything was perfect. We were a bit apprehensive of staying in Hilton Head, because we thought it was just for golfers, but it's really a cool place for anyone who enjoys nature, like we do.

Room Tip: Take something near the beach, instead of beachfront, it's great value.
