“A decent, basic Fairfield”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2010

I've stayed here a couple of times this year on business while consulting for a local company. I found this hotel to be pretty basic (as Fairfields typically are) but decent.

My last stay was in an "upgraded" king room which had more space, but not a whole lot else. The bed had a very thin mattress pad and a thin duvet. The individual room's climate control would simply turn itself off after a couple of hours and you could not run the fan continuously.

It is a Fairfield policy to provide free Internet. At this property, however, a low-speed connection (wired or wireless) is free but you have to pay 8.95/night for a higher-speed connection. The TV is a basic CRT type but it had a good selection of basic cable channels. The free breakfast selection was decent, with Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches and a waffle iron in addition to the usual breads and cereals.

If you have to be in the immediate Hartsville area, this is probably your best choice. If you want anything fancier you'll have to stay in Florence (as some of my colleagues chose to do) which is about 20-ish miles away.

“My first visit to Hartsville SC”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 April 2010

Hotel C- rating - Free internet was limited to a SLOW bandwidth of 384K. They wanted a premium charge of $8.95 to upgrade to up to high speed 1500K. This option was not represented in on the hotel homepage at Marriott.com. Hotel was quiet. Older TV's, but good channel selection. A little dated in appearance, but clean. Staff was accommodating but not as friendly as found in most Marriott Hotels.

It is located downtown and their was a great place to eat called Luichi's in walking distance. Great Italian food and excellent service!

“Dusty somewhat dated hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2010

Compared to other Fairfields / other Category 1 Marriotts we've stayed at, this one was really mediocre. The bed was dusty. The sheets seemed small for the king size we got and kept falling out. The TV was from the 90s, The curtains couldn't be closed and there were quite a few people outside that made the evening somewhat uncomfortable. Otherwise the personnel was very friendly. I think its the location. If you are a traveller like us who is going long distance and needs a place to stay, this is a bad choice. If you must be in this town for other reason, its probably OK.

“Pleasant stay in a very nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2010

This is the second time we have stayed at the FairfIeld Inn in Hartsville (the first being in July 2009). The hotel appears to be new. Everything was extremely clean. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful. The hotel is about a block from a quaint main street that is filled with shops and restaurants and is also close to Coker College. They have coffee and tea in the rooms as well as in the lobby. A continental breakfast is provided. The rooms were a nice size and the beds were very comfortable.

“Great hotel, location and service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2009

This is my third stay at this hotel. As usual the staff was friendly and accomodating. The room was spotless and in a great location. You can walk to the downtown restaurants and movie theatre.
