“Almost perfect... a few quibbles”
This hotel is located very close to the GSP airport and is convenient to any location in Greer. Not far from Greenville and Spartansburg; a short drive from "restaurant row" off of Highway 85.
The Holiday Inn Express chain has some nice features. The shower heads are extra large, the beds are firm and comfortable, and you get an assortment of firm and soft pillows. The towels -- while not as fluffy and full as you would find at an upscale hotel -- are a step above La Quinta and other chains.
In this hotel, the room seemed more contemporary than the classic Holiday Inn look. There were black-and-white framed photographs on the wall and other nice decorating touches. My room had a microwave and small frig. The TV had cable and every channel I could think of.
The staff at the hotel were friendly and approachable.
I had a few disappointments with the hotel. One was the condition of the room when I checked in. For some reason one of the phones was unplugged. So was one of the lamps by the bed. The desk lamp did not work. And the housekeeping was not great. I picked up a bottle cap from the floor and the bathroom was not so well cleaned.
The Internet provided is free, both wired and wireless. However, neither worked very well. I got kicked off -- lost signal -- frequently. I did call the front desk to ask about the Internet problems, but was told it was working normally.
The breakfast was the typical breakfast you'll find at a HIE or La Quinta, and it's not great. One morning the English muffins were so hard they could have been hockey pucks. But for a breakfast alternative, there's a Starbucks just 348 feet down the road.
I didn't use the pool or fitness room, so nothing to report on that. Parking is adequate. Lighting good. I think if they step up the housekeeping and improve Internet service, this would be a nearly perfect place to stay.
