My stay started late at night, I was traveling through the area and that was as far as I could drive for the night. I walked in to the lobby, waited for the night clerk to get off the phone and when she found the time to help me she acted as though I was bothering her. I asked about availability, and she stated that there were plenty of rooms left, I let her know I was in the La Quinta rewards program and asked for a room. The Sign out front states "Rates $49.99" I was a late night check in and didnt expect to be quoted 20% and 30% higher than the advertised rates. I asked about the posted rate and she said, "oh I guess I could do that" I got the lower advertised rate, but the room was aweful.
Mold is something I am allergic to, and the room I was given had me taking a benedryl in 30 minutes.
Checked in at 3:30 am, at 10:30 am, which is an hour and a half before check out there was a beating on my door even though the do not disturb sign was outside. Maintenance wanted to change the shower head. I declined to let the person enter, and let him know I was just getting out of bed.
When I checked out I asked the clerk if she was a manager (the office door was open and someone was in there at the desk) she told me that she was not a manger but she would be happy to assist me. I asked if it was hotel policy to try and upcharge guests that check in late. I was informed that the posted rate only applies to certain check ins. I asked about having maintenance ignore the do not disturb sign and I was told yes they have projects they have to do and most guests are checked out by that time.
Unhappy was an understatement, and I was content to just send a complaint to the hotel. My phone rang while on the road and the hotel manager called me. He asked me "what my problem was" and actually wanted to argue with me about the issues I had. Nice. I told him to not waste any more of my time and hung up the phone.
STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE.
