We stayed at this hotel on our way home from NYC and I am SO glad we did. This was our last night on vacation and we met some great people! There is a small bar at this hotel that was great! we ordered food and had a few drinks with two guys who were locals. They were really nice. The bartender was so nice. She was great conversation! We will definately go back to this hotel just to visit the bartender and the two gentlemen who were there. The room was nice. Hotel is a little dated but appears to have been remodeled. It was nice. Bed was super comfy. Breakfast was not free since we had opted for two free drinks at the bar and 10% off our meal...

This incident JUST occurred and I am so infuriated that I had to write my review now. I haven't even checked out yet. My husband and our two children (8 months and 5 yrs old) are guests here tonight and the main floor is the second floor; where our room is located. I heard this extremely loud girl at the end of the hallway (our room is in the middle), so I stuck my head out the door and politely asked her to keep her voice down because children were sleeping. This teenage girl then told me "[---][---][---]!" I walked down the hall to confront her where she challenged me to see what I would "do." I immediately went to the front desk and asked for security when the brother of the girl came in to inform his mother, who was in the lounge drinking, of the incident. I lodged a formal complaint with the hotel and we will NEVER stay here again. If you are used to a more refined guest gathering, then DO NOT STAY HERE. The small issues were that the pool was under construction and then I had to inform them that every machine in the exercise room was broken and not able to be used; with THIS caliber of guests I'm not suprised really, and then the restaurant managed to burn a simple grilled chicken breast. I will be speaking with management in the morning to further resolve this issue. Again, PLEASE do NOT stay here.

I read the reviews about the area being bad, but we did not find it to be scary. There are some abandoned buildings on the main road, but we arrived at night and it seemed fine. Also a hotel employee was out in the parking lot watching over things.

However, with that being said it was an old hotel and the hallway carpets were very dirty. The lobby and rooms seemed clean, but the hallways were nasty. Behind the front desk the baseboard was missing, little details like that give you a clue that the hotel is not in great repair. There were hairs on the covers - gross.

The air conditioning did not work properly in our room, but at least it did run when I turned it down to 62, which was too cold.

My room key did not work until the third trip to the front desk, but they did tell me they were planning to change the system.

I have allergies to smoke and mold - something got my eyes itching. I did not see mold, but at one point I could smell smoke, even though my room was non-smoking.

There was noise in the halls through the night, and it seemed to echo into our room. We did stay on a Friday night which may be more active than other nights.

We did appreciate the fridge in the room.

All in all I was glad I did not pay the published price for the room.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn I-85 from March 31 to April 8. Hotel and rooms were clean, restaurant food was good & inexpensive although too much salt if going to a buffet casserole (prefer downtown restaurants for sure), staff was friendly and efficient. If you want a great meal go downtown but the food here is fine if you want to eat in. Overall, this hotel offers good value and I was pleasantly surprised after reading some reviews before we got there. If you want to go for an early morning run or walk, drive a couple of miles up Augusta Rd towards downtown and park your car. You'll see lots of other early morning runners.
