When staying here you are basically joining the Shaw family for the evening as you are made to feel so welcome and also due to the fact that, whilst the 3 rooms are all well-sized, there are no fully separated guest areas.

Whilst this may put some people off I would encourage you to stay as Mary and Joe are charming, warm, friendly and extermely helpful (Mary may be getting on in years she was sharp-as-a-tack when we stayed).

The house has great views over the marshes and downtown is only a very pleasant 10 minutes walk

I was very impressed with the Shaw House. Our downstairs room was huge, beautifully decorated and very clean. The bed was wonderfully comfortable. Our hosts, Joe and Mary, were eager to answer our questions, give directions and advise on restaurants. The house itself is located at the edge of town with an impressive view of the marsh but still very close to the downtown shops and marina. Breakfast was quiet good and Mary was asked for her recipe. My only concern is that Joe and Mary are getting up in age (Joe can hardly see) and I hope that they know when to quit before the quality of their service suffers. They have earned some well deserved rest.

We first visited the Shaw House in May 2001 and we loved it the minute we walked through the door. The innkeepers were very hospitable, showing us around the inn and giving us the choice of the 3 rooms. The rooms are nice and clean, tastefully decorated and they each have a private bathroom.We rented 2 rooms for our family of 4. We stayed 2 nights and wished it were longer. We had such a wonderful time that we stayed there again last summer this time for 1 week. This time we enjoyed sitting on the porch rocking away...just enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. We have family in a nearby town and we had an agenda, but our staying at the inn was far better than any of the motels we had been accustomed to staying in. Breakfast is served every morning at a time convienent for the guests. Guess what? We are headed back there in the next month for our 3rd stay. It is such nice place that our son and his new bride spent 2 nights their last August on their way back home from their honeymoon.Check them out...you will not be disapointted.
