I stayed here with my wife and baby on a long drive; I had no reservation--in fact this was the 5th hotel I tried before finding a vacancy due to a nearby lacross tournament. I got lucky though, as the King suite we got here was perfect for our needs--we could setup the pack-and-play for the baby in the living room and stay out of sight in the bedroom (he won't sleep if he can see us). It is the first good night's sleep we've gotten in a hotel in 10 months! :) The suite also unexpectedly had a two-person jetted tub.

The hotel itself is apparently between renovations; the new lobby and breakfast area is very nice, though the way it attaches to the rest of the hotel is a little strange. The first floor room we had is in dire need of renovation; it was spotlessly clean, but frayed on the edges. Also, I've seen (much) better TVs at local thrift stores.

Presumably nobody cares about the room though, as most people are going to be exhausted by a day at Carowinds, which is literally right across the street. There is also a Wendy's right next to the parking lot for a quick meal.

My son and I stayed at this facility June 19 - 21, 2010. We were able to check in during the morning ( A Saturday) which made it possible to freshen up and relax a bit before going to Carowinds. Our room was comfortable, clean and odor free. The sheets were fresh and there was no odor from the pillows. The amenities we as advertised and were all in working order (did not visit the exercise area though it was available). The pool and pool area were clean and well maintained as was the landscaping around the pool and the rest of the facility. The pool is at the rear of the facility shielding it from traffic noise and onlookers. The breakfast area was open from 7AM until 9:30 AM also clean and well maintained offering a selection of juices, breakfast beverages, cold cereal, bagels, toast, boiled eggs,sausage biscuits, yogurts, fresh fruits, muffins and danish. The dining area is good sized with plenty of chairs and tables available. The location is a bit of a walk to the theme park (200 yards to the parking lot - 3/4 mi to the North gate where season pass processing and Will Call is located) and requires crossing traffic but as close as one can get and still stay at a hotel. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful and with the Carowinds season pass rates, a good value. We will be returning again and would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Ok stay---Its the closest Hotel to Carowinds (one could walk and save the $10 parking fee) the room had comfortable beds ,small refrigerator , and microwave---we had a leaky toilet so I had to get extra towels in the bathroom ---the internet was HORRIBLE sloooowwww !!! and so was the printing ---The breakfast was pretty good with sausage biscuits , waffles , muffins, and more --well maintain during the morning rush The staff was very nice ---- If you are going to Carowinds this will work but dont stay for a business trip

We were here out of season (February) and got a great deal ($62). We stayed here for one night on the way to Myrtle Beach.

It was decent for the price. The gym was OK as long as no-one else was in there as it was a little cramped. The treadmill was good and it was a decent hotel style gym. Can't really ask for more, to be honest.

The shower was very good as was the bed, which was very comfortable throughout the night.

However, the hotel really needs some polishing. Electrical sockets were coming away from the wall, there were stains and burns on the upholstery and the internet service was very poor when it did work (which it didn't from about 9.30pm onwards). We called down to report the problem and it wasn't resolved by the time we went to sleep (around midnight). Very disappointing as it's an advertised service and is something we usually require in our hotels as I'm on call. Luckily, no-one paged me that night and we were tired and didn't really feel like web browsing.

The breakfast was a bit of a waste of calories but that's, honestly, the standard for the Sunshine breakfast. Can't really complain as we knew what to expect coming in.

Ultimately, it was decent for the price and the fact we were there one night. I'm not sure how well it deals with peak season with the amusement park next door. Was very disappointed in the internet service, so scored the hotel a 2. I feel that's a little unfair as it mostly served its purpose. If the internet service was functional, the hotel would have scored a 3.
