“A great place acroos the street from the Carowinds Theme park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 April 2011

Checkin was fine. The place is clean and well kept. The staff was courteous and professional. The rooms were your normal motel rooms. They were very clean and in good shape. It was adjacent to the park which meant no parking fees. It was our second time there and we will go again.

The WiFi was great with a professional system installed.

Room Tip: ALWAYS book direct.

“Worst hotel experience ever.”

Everything was going fine until about 3:30 in the morning when I felt something crawling on my face. I wiped it off and jumped straight out of bed. My husband got up and turned the light on and we started looking for the insect. We found a huge cricket which crawled up under the mattress so I made my husband lift the matress to make sure there no colony under there. As my husband lifted the mattress he felt something and there was a used condom under the mattress. So we went to the front desk to complain and they said they could not give us another room so I asked if they could just clean it and put new sheets on. The guy at the front deks hands ME the sheets and says "I'm not housekeeping" and told us to put the sheets on ourselves. My husband slept in the chair and since i am 6 months pregnant I tried to just curl up on the end of the bed for a couple hours. So the next morning we go out to the front desk to speak to the manager and they offered to give us $20 off our stay which was not good enough in my opinion. Then the owner came out and got up in my husbands face and started yelling at him telling him that is probably our used condom and that we just wanted to get our money back. Then he was screaming at us to get out when we hadnt even raised our voices yet!!!!!!!! Needless to say I did raise my voice and make a seen for all the guests eating breakfast before making our departure. I am shocked by the way they handled the situation and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about it!

As the new General Manager of the Comfort Inn at Carowinds, as of August 5, 2010, I have made several staffing changes to better accommodate our guests. This incident took place July 30, 2010. The housekeeping staff/management has been changed. Several of the Front Desk staff, including the gentleman that stated that he was not a housekeeper, has been replaced as well.

Our position is to serve all of our guests with the highest in quality and service. I have made strides this month to make positive changes for our guests. I have trained our staff to handle guest issues to ensure customer satisfaction. We are committed to our guest's overall experiences and look forward to showing all of our guests that commitment.

“Good in a pinch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2010

I stayed here with my wife and baby on a long drive; I had no reservation--in fact this was the 5th hotel I tried before finding a vacancy due to a nearby lacross tournament. I got lucky though, as the King suite we got here was perfect for our needs--we could setup the pack-and-play for the baby in the living room and stay out of sight in the bedroom (he won't sleep if he can see us). It is the first good night's sleep we've gotten in a hotel in 10 months! :) The suite also unexpectedly had a two-person jetted tub.

The hotel itself is apparently between renovations; the new lobby and breakfast area is very nice, though the way it attaches to the rest of the hotel is a little strange. The first floor room we had is in dire need of renovation; it was spotlessly clean, but frayed on the edges. Also, I've seen (much) better TVs at local thrift stores.

Presumably nobody cares about the room though, as most people are going to be exhausted by a day at Carowinds, which is literally right across the street. There is also a Wendy's right next to the parking lot for a quick meal.

We appreciate your feedback concerning your stay. You are right in that we are in the middle of renovations at the hotel. We have more work to do in the guest rooms and suites, such as new furniture and Flat Screen TV's. These changes are coming and will have an improved guest impact. We look forward to having you stay with us again soon.

“Great Value .. Friendly staff .. Delivered What They Promised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

My son and I stayed at this facility June 19 - 21, 2010. We were able to check in during the morning ( A Saturday) which made it possible to freshen up and relax a bit before going to Carowinds. Our room was comfortable, clean and odor free. The sheets were fresh and there was no odor from the pillows. The amenities we as advertised and were all in working order (did not visit the exercise area though it was available). The pool and pool area were clean and well maintained as was the landscaping around the pool and the rest of the facility. The pool is at the rear of the facility shielding it from traffic noise and onlookers. The breakfast area was open from 7AM until 9:30 AM also clean and well maintained offering a selection of juices, breakfast beverages, cold cereal, bagels, toast, boiled eggs, sausage biscuits, yogurts, fresh fruits, muffins and danish. The dining area is good sized with plenty of chairs and tables available. The location is a bit of a walk to the theme park (200 yards to the parking lot - 3/4 mi to the North gate where season pass processing and Will Call is located) and requires crossing traffic but as close as one can get and still stay at a hotel. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful and with the Carowinds season pass rates, a good value. We will be returning again and would recommend this hotel to family and friends.
