Where to begin. i am originally from the area (Gaston Co) and now live in TN. Every year we like to bring our kids to Carowinds. We also traveled with our new chihuahua. This hotel supposedly takes pets IF they are well behaved. We arrived at the hotel and were checked in to a dirty room. (pubic hairs on toilet, hair in shower and in sink, room not vaccuumed, refridgerator was nasty with hair in it as well, smoke detector in our non-smoking room covered with plastic, I assume so someone could smoke in there) They moved us to another room. We didn't even walk into this room because the 3 rooms next door to this one were playing loud mexican style rap music FULL BLAST in the rooms. come to find out the whole hotel is full of contractors. PARTYING CONTRACTORS. So we were going to leave. They offered us a room on a different floor and offered to refund our money for one night and give us a gift certificate to stay in any motel 6 for one night. We said ok and got to choose from 2 other rooms. They were smoking rooms and didn't have a fridge. So they moved a fridge in the room for us. I didn't check the toilet. MY MISTAKE because there ended up being pubic hair on it too. I called the desk and asked for cleaner to clean it myself. They brought the cleaner up and never even offered to reclean the room. My husband walked down the hall and smelled marijuana in the halls. I couldn't sleep that night. I kept thinking I was laying in someone's scum. Partially from my experience personally, but also after hearing a conversation between the front desk person and a head housekeeper. "You really need to do something about these housekeepers because we've had a lot of rooms checked into dirty today" Bad day for our first day of vacay. So next morning I woke up with a rash all over my belly. Then that afternoon one of the CONTRACTORS was walking his HUGE pit bull down the hall way saying easy boy, relax now; this told me to stay back. After walking downstairs to the front of the hotel the same dog was in the front of a car with two kids and a lady (assuming man's wife or girlfriend) was hitting the pit bull in the head and face with a towel repeatly and was yelling at the man "why'd you let it in here to begin with?" So the dog which is on a leash jumps out of the car getting away from his owner and runs toward myself and my husband. This was unacceptable. This told me this hotel would rent a room to anyone. The sign on the door says only well behaved animals. NO don't believe it. If my girls or my 3 1/2 lb chihuahua would've been in my arms, we probably would've been mauled. We couldn't use the pool. There was nothing about this hotel I would recommend to anyone. We had a family member come get our kids and we found a new hotel. STAY AWAY! BE WARNED! THIS IS NOT A KID OR PET FRIENDLY HOTEL! THIS IS HELL! I cried the first two days of my vacation. Only good thing about this hotel, they refunded our money.

This property is okay and I would recommend it for a stop over.
With that said, a few minor issues, no clock radio or shampoo and our toilet wouldn't flush.
There was also used condoms littered in the parking lot.
Hey it's a motel 6 and they do leave the light on, so you know where to throw your used skins.

I'm actually writing this review at the hotel. If you are looking for an affordable room for a trip to Carowinds, you found it! The hotel is across the street from the gates of Carowinds so the location is GREAT! Yes, its behind a gas station, but its not that bad. The beds are comfy, the bathroom looks brand new with a new tub, toliet and sink. The staff is SUPER FRIENDLY, very helpful, eager to help if you need assistance. The pool is kind of small, but judging from the other hotel pools, it seems to be a standard size. Hotel is also about 20 mins from Ikea too. :D Without a doubt, this is the cheapest, most cleaniest hotel near Carowinds. Pets are FREE, no deposit, free coffee at breakfast (no food though) and wifi card for 24 hrs is $2.99. I did extensive research, this is a real deal. For cheap carowinds tickets go to retail me not dot com. Enjoy!

I have nothing negitive to say about this place.

The guy at the desk was very friendly, the housekeeping was friendly. The room was VERY CLEAN the bathroom was really nice, the rooms are indoors, they have a elvador for the upstairs, the pool is right out the back door and was very nice. For the price you pay it is VERY NICE! It's half the price of all the other hotels in the area, across the street from Carowinds and you can get a MicroFridge in the room.

If there was ANYTHING negigitive about this place it's that it's behind a gas station and can be a little hard getting into it. But over all for $40 a night across from a theme park you can't get a better hotel.

I never saw nothing dirty about this place, in fact I was surprised at how very clean it was and the front desk is open 24 hours a day.
