I travel at least 3 or 4 times a week and stay in many different hotels, I always stay in 3 to 5 star hotels. The rooms were spotless and the breakfast was really good. But this hotel's staff really knows how to take care of their guest. The service here was the most upbeat and friendly that I have ever stayed at. I wish more hotels treated their guest as good as this one. Great job to the staff.

I was a bit upset with my stay. Normally I don't have issues with hotels I stay in, but this was one of the worst stays I've had at any hotel. The A/C didn't work well, which considering the time of yr, you want it to. As for the bed, I've had better nights sleep on a Pull out couch or the floor for that matter. The Bathroom was very tight, and not easy to move around in. Finally, one of the guests decided the hallway was the best place to carry on a phone call. Not the fault of the hotel, but things just started to add up and this didn't help.

Great Value and the Free hot Breakfast was a Delight. The hostess was super friendly. The rooms wew Clean and Fresh Linen

This hotel was nothing to rave about but was perfectly fine. I could not find it via the Holiday Inn webpage and thought perhaps it had changed hands, but called the phone number and indeed it is still a Holiday Inn Express and I could get reservations. We had requested a non-smoking room and the first one we were given although it had a non-smoking sign smelled very strongly of smoke. We normally don't complain, but this was bad enough that we requested a different room. We were quickly changed and the next room was much better. The room was clean, good mattresses, mini fridge and microwave were a plus. The hotel was not very full, perhaps as a result the breakfast buffet was not well stocked but we managed. The lobby and breakfast area were attractive and staff friendly. The big plus is that it is directly across the street from Carowinds, however you should be aware that the Carowinds entrance road is long enough that you would want to drive in from any hotel. The outdoor pool was small but looked pleasant - since we had enjoyed the large pools at Carowinds we did not try it.

Once Carowinds tip - we had the season pass and looked forward to the 30 minutes early entry into the water park portion. You can get in early but only one slide is open and some of the little kid spash areasand no other attractions. You should definitely not waste your time going there until about 10:55.

There was also a Sleep Inn right next to the Holiday Inn and a Comfort Inn that was even closer to Carowinds (you would still have to drive). The exterior of both looked fine but we did not go in. There are a couple restaurants you could walk to from the Holiday Inn although we did not.
