We stayed at this hotel for a softball tournament. When I called the hotel directly, I mentioned the bad reviews they've received. They took over the hotel in Feb 2010, according to the desk person. I told them if we found the room less than optimal, we wouldn't be staying. We got a rate lower than what's published on these sites, ($39.95). We were pleasantly surprised. We stayed in rm. 116. My husband is a pest control operator and knows that bedbugs are a HUGE problem in Florence as well as most other cities. We scrutinized every inch of the beds before we took our bags in the room, and found them to have bright white linens, with clean mattress and box springs. Our room had new carpet, and was clean. The bathroom was tiled with fresh grout, albeit old fixtures, but was clean. We were sent steps away in the morning to an adjacent restaurant that was under renovation as well. We enjoyed a hot breakfast of eggs, bacon, grits, and homefries, as well as the usual continental style selection most hotels have. It was a pleasant experience and we would visit again. The only problems we had was a chirping smoke detector, room keys that became demagnetized, and a need for an additional blanket. All of these were addressed promptly and courteously when reported to the front desk.

NonSmk Room reeked of stale cigarette smoke. Carpets very dirty and stained. Continental B'fast - Disgusting and poor presentation. Cockroach ran out from under coffee carafe. Bread & buns left uncovered. Cleaning equipment, vacuums etc left strewn about behind serving counter.
