I stayed on the enclosed 3rd floor. The room was clean, but small. I'm surprised Marriott hasn't dropped this property. This has to be a converted motel and it looks like it. Definately not what you would expect from a Marriott.

We thought a Marriott property would be pretty nice. We were wrong. Our room was tiny and smelled like urine and stale cigarette smoke (in a non smoking room). The bed was terrible and the room old and dirty. The only plus was the free breakfast which was ok. Thankfully it was only for one night.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel as a stop over on the way to Charleston. We have stayed at other Marriott hotels before and always enjoyed this hotel brand. We read the reviews for this hotel and thought that since we were going to be on the 3rd floor, it would be ok. The staff was very nice, and the bed was comfortable but the drain in the bathroom didn't work properly, I did not like the motel feel and the breakfast was not good. My husband looks forward to the waffles and I don't know what was wrong with the batter they provided but the waffles tasted awful.
With all the options in the area, I felt like $75 was way too much for this hotel. Because of this stay, I will not stay at a Fairfield Inn again.

We most always stay at Marriott properties and have stayed at several Fairfield Inns. Arrived here after a long motor trip and checked in. First shock was the lobby ... small and kind of old. Took elevator to second floor and found ourselves outside on a balcony to get to rooms (started getting really suspicious). Found room and opened door and was amazed!!! Room was so tiny, we thought it was a closet. Seems like this property was an old Holiday Inn or something. We immediately went back to desk, cancelled and found there were Marriott Courtyard, Spring Hill and Residence Inns across the street. Went to Courtyard where we got a good rate (only $20 more than the ancient Fairfield) and had a good night. We e-mailed Marriott the next day and were informed that the "Fairfield Inns" are mostly old properties and the "Fairfield Inn and Suites" are newer, larger ones. We will not make this mistake again.
