“Don't stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2011

We had read good reviews and were looking forward to a pleasant stay on our way to Florida. My husband got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and encountered a huge roach crawling on the sink vanity. He grew up in the South and is not easily upset by bugs but even he was distraught. The breakfast was also a disappointment. It was not the hot breakfast we thought it would be but rather the usual do it yourself fare. With one exception a staff member came to the table to deliver either coffee or juice but definitely not both, very odd. All in all not a restful or enjoyable stay. Look elsewhere.

We are having our motel rooms sprayed every month. Terminix is our exterminator and when we have problems they come out during the month when we call. Our restaurant will now serve coffee and juice if requested.

“OK stay, puzzling breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2010

This is the second time we have stayed here, and since we travel from PA to FL a few times a year, were planning on making this a regular stop. Both times our room and friendliness of staff were fine. On our most recent visit the complimentary breakfast changed from a buffet to a set menu. Ordinarily, that would be fine. But their restrictions left me shaking my head in disbelief. Even though they offer english muffins, you may not substitute a muffin for toast. I was told in very certain terms that my eggs came with toast, not an english muffin. And since the set menu says you get a beverage, they really mean it. No, you absolutely may not have both a small juice and coffee. I'm curious as to whether these are actually management decisions or if it had to do with the age or experience of the servers.
I don't think we'll return on our way back North. We'll be returning to FL in about six weeks, we"ll see how I feel about returning then.

“Even my dog wanted to change hotels”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2010 via mobile

First impression of room was that it looked scraggy with carpet stains but a clean bathroom.

Closer examination revealed what I would bet money on was semen on the middle blanket. GROSS. Too tired to change hotels and was told the place was fully booked. I slept in the second bed.

Thin walls let you hear your neighbors every movement.

Lobby looked like an RNC convention with a bazillion pics of Nixon, Bush, etc. I'm a republican and this shrine gave me the willies.

Save yourself $ ($73 after fees) and an uncomfortable experience and stay at a different motel nearby. They are cheaper and must be cleaner.

I am sorry it has taken so long to respond. We try very hard to keep our rooms clean with clean sheets, towels, etc. When the perma press comes out of our sheets it looks like stains and I am very sorry these sheets were on the bed. Our housekeeping dept. has since received new sheets and these type of sheets do not go on our beds. The pictures we have in our lobby are of our owner, he was a U.S. congressman and therefore has had his picture taken with dignitaries and is very proud of them. I thank you for your stay and hope you will return, Kathy Taylor Property Manager

“Older hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2010

Room was poorly maintained but seemed to be clean. Carpet was very old and had a tear in it. Service from staff was average. A hot breakfast was included. Since they have a restaurant, you are given a specific menu for the breakfast. The location was very good - just right off the interstate.

Thank you for your response. Our motel is an older property and we do try very hard to maintain it. We are always working to upgrade and have made some improvements. Always do we have clean rooms, our housekeeping staff is very good. I hope you will try us again. Kathy Taylor Property Manager

“Good overnight stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2010

We stayed here overnight on our road trip to Florida, and again on our way home. Staff was friendly, both at the front desk and in the restaurant. The place looks old and the carpets were worn, but it was clean, and that was all that really mattered to us. The pool and whirlpool were nice, and the wifi was good, with a nice strong signal. Verizon phone reception wasn't great, but that's hardly the hotel's fault. There are a couple of gas stations nearby, which was convenient.

The complimentary breakfast was good, but a little different than described in other reviews. When you check in, you tell them how many adults and children you have, and they give you the appropriate amount of adult/child vouchers for the dining room; you have to present them when you go for your meal. Breakfast was sit-down table service, not a buffet. There's a menu you order from that restricts your choices a bit, but you can get a full breakfast with all the normal stuff: eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, toast, grits, hash browns, OJ, coffee, tea, etc. We tipped our server based on an estimate of what the breakfast would have cost us, but still, it wasn't a lot of money.

Overall, this is a fine place to stop overnight on a road trip, and we would likely stay again.
