Stayed a week at Egret's Point Condos near the end of Edisto Island in February 2009. Nice two bedroom with full kitchen, washer-dryer, two tv's, and a nice view of a small lagoon out the back side. Had a resident alligator and an elusive otter, and a few ducks and egrets. No mosquitoes yet, but I suspect there are lots in the summer. Condo also provides two bicycles for your rides about the island.
No wi-fi in the room, but it was available a block away in a nearby reception parking lot, or inside up until 9 or 9:30 in the evening. Nice folks to work with at reception which for these condos is located back outside of town. Wonderful beach walking about 1/2 mile away, with a state park beach available, and quite a few small shells to comb through and collect. Lots of free parking on the main street sides, but only park in the direction of the traffic flow. Also lots of parking inlets along the beach access streets.
Several good restaurants, with the Seacow having a great shrimp salad at lunch, and McConkey's Jungle Shack serving great hamburgers and sandiwiches and free wi-fi. Seating is tight at McConkeys but worth the wait. Also ate at Main Street diner, but the meat selection was lacking on the day we visited. However the vegetables there were great, and the cooks very friendly.
The museum and local churches are well worth a visit to enjoy the history of the island. Oh, yes, remember the speed limits on the two main roads in town. They are fully enforced by the local police. Enjoy...
