Had a wonderful stay with the staff at this location. They were friendly, helpful and went out of the way to make a nice stay great. From start to finish, check in to housekeeping, awesome. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Let me just state that I stayed at this property a year ago as we traveled through the area as a stopover. We loved it so much, we decided to do it again. Being from Southwest Florida and always having warm temps, we relish the opportunity to have cool temps and a fireplace in the room.

With the fireplace you can buy artificial logs to burn (yes, you really burn them). We really liked this little ammenity last time.

So, we decided to stay here again. No, there's nothing special here, just a nice, clean hotel that we stayed at last year.

This year, when we went, I immediately was turned off by the guy at the front desk checking me in. He barely spoke to me, and when he did speak he mumbled to where I could barely hear him. I dont think he told me where my room was, but then again, if he did I couldnt understand him due to the mumbling.

I asked to buy a log, and was told they didn't have any. Hmm, that's nice to have a hotel with a fireplace and nothing to put in it. Wow.

We requested a crib in the room since we had a baby. We requested this when we made reservations. Of course, when I got to the room (at midnight since we had been driving all day) there was no crib. I called the front desk and nobody picked up. After letting it ring over and over and over the guy who checked me in picked up. I told him that there was no crib. He told me the manager was the only one who had a key to that area and he wouldn't be in until later the next morning. Uh, I have a baby who needs a crib. Well needless to say we had to put our child in the bed with us, which I hate since I roll so much during my sleep. I barely got any sleep that night out of fear of moving. I also was none to happy about this since they knew about this for two days prior to my arrival.

The next morning I called again. Though we were leaving a few hours later, I needed a crib to put the baby in so we could get ready to leave. I called around 7:30 am and was again told that the manager wouldn't be in until around 10:00 am and would then bring it. At 9:45 am I called and was told the manager was in and could have the crib brought to the room. 15 minutes later, with no crib, I called and asked where it was and was sort of shortly told it was on it's way (none to polite, as if I was bothering them). Another 15 minutes later it showed up. Again, was I paying for this stay or were they paying me because I sure felt as though I was a bother to the staff.

By the way, I'm one of these people who will vent here but I am 100% nice and friendly when having issues. So much so my wife wishes I was a bit more agressive. I say this to preface this in letting you know the attitude was no in reaction due to something I did. I was completely nice and friendly.

With that said, the guy who brought the crib up, came to the door, I met him there and thanked him. He didnt even say a single word and walked away. I was sort of shocked. I really really felt as though my stay was a complete bother to the staff. I have no clue what was going on there.

The rooms are large if you get the suite. However the floors seem hollow and frankly I dont think paying for the suite is worth it. The carpet is worn and it seems very cheap inside. You get space but it all seems cheap.

We had a coffee maker with no coffee. We had a paper towel holder with no paper towels. Really, I'm wondering what the heck was going on over there during our stay.

Anyways, the hotel that I really had high hopes for really disappointed me this time. The staff has just gone downhill. My warning is, if you stay here, don't ask for anything and don't count on using the fireplace during winter, because for some reason they seem to not keep track of their inventory.

I like the hotel overall but I feel it's a BIT overpriced. However, my main complaint is I feel as though the staff is VERY very rude.

HOWEVER, I'll say this, the lady who handled the morning breakfast was incredibly friendly and should be commended. She's one of the nicest people I've ever met.

Because of proximity to family, I have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the years. Long story short, for the first time ever they really, really messed up my reservation. I was very vocally unhappy. Somehow, they made everything right. Bottom line they made a mistake, fixed everything, and somehow took me from an irate customer to someone who is still their biggest fan. Mistakes happen. What was impressive was how they made everything right while being cheerful, responsive, and timely.

Truthfully, this place could possibly need a bit of updating. However, at this point, I've stayed at every "nice" hotel in Columbia and you aren't going to fare any better. The rooms here are large, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The staff is amazing.

The breakfast here is fabulous. Lana fixes an amazing breakfast that will leave you completely content. A nearby hotel with more stars and higher prices has a breakfast that is half as good, the rooms cost twice as much and aren't as nice.

Bottom line, this is a great place. Staff is friendly and makes you feel like a welcome friend. The hotel isn't really luxury, but the so called luxury hotels in Columbia, SC are not exactly luxury either. This is a great place for business travellers because it has everything you need. It's also a great place for families. Highly reccomend, you will enjoy the experience.

Stayed at this hotel and moved our student into USC. What a great place to stay!! We had more than enough space for three, comfortable beds, great maid service, and a wonderful hot breakfast each morning!!

The property was very well kept and all the staff members (front desk, breakfast set up, maid/maintenance) were friendly and helpful.

I'd definitely recommend this hotel for a nice family stay . . . and the local zoo/gardens were a few minutes away !!
