“Nice hotel, great location.”

Stayed in this hotel (for second time) in order to attend an event at the Convention Center. The hotel is less than a block from the Convention Center and The Vista. Great location if you want to hit the local bars and restaurants.
Nice hotel, very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Parking is in a lot right outside the back door of the hotel.
They had a complimentary breakfast, but we didn't try it (we were in a hurry). Coffee and tea service was available all day.
I recommend and would stay here again.

The hotel was great, close to all the restaurants in the Vista and cordial staff. The rooms were great, lots of room and clean.

Room Tip: Don't go there during USC football games or graduation. Get rooms that look over Gervais Street

“Convenient to Convention Center and Restaurants”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

We stayed two nights this week as we were in town for a conference at the Columbia Metro Convention Center. The Hampton Inn is one of only two hotels within walking distance to the convention center. Pros: Nicely appointed, clean room, free hot breakfast, free parking, better value.

Check-in was a breeze. We arrived at 12pm the first day of our conference and our room was ready upon our arrival. We received our first choice of room preference as we had book our room months in advance. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The room was comfortable and nicely appointed. The only negative on the room was that while it did have a flat screen, the television programming was not in HD and had quite a bit of snow. Once you have grown accustomed to watching something in HD it is hard to go back!

Something to note on the parking: when the hotel is full, the parking lot is limited. If you take off in the afternoon or evening, you might return and not be able to find a parking space. They have an overflow lot available next door to the hotel just-in-case, but you must be out by 7am. Fortunately, you can walk to the convention center and to a whole slew of restaurants. We parked our car and walked everywhere-even to the Publix grocery store 3 blocks away.

If I have to return to Columbia for an event at the convention center, the Hampton Inn will definitely be my first choice!

Room Tip: I don't know if there is a bad room in this hotel.

“Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

This Hampton is in a red brick building. It isn't one of the newer ones. The rooms are a bit smaller than the newer Hamptons. It has a traditionally decorated lobby in keeping with the southern ambiance. The head board of the bed is a faux poster bed. It is comfortable and meets Hampton expectation except that it is not the newer style and the appointments are not as spiffy as a new one would be. Breakfast was good and service was courteous and with good manners. The price of over $150 per night was steep. However, I understood that it was a busy night.

“Nice hotel in a good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

Stayed here one night for business. Wish I had arrived in Columbia earlier in the evening because there were a number of restaurants and bars located within walking distance to this hotel.

My room was very clean and even though it faced out unto the main street it was really quiet. The breakfast was your typical Hampton Inn meal and the seating area for breakfast was large enough so that there were plenty of tables. Would stay here again if I visit Columbia in the near future.
