Before booking this hotel I checked the review on several sites and it came up as middle of the road in comparison to other hotels in the area.
I selected it based on location and price and decided to take a chance as there were not many reviews and those I found were not recent.
Due to the bad weather in the UK there were difficulties with my flight and I ended up going a week later. The folks at customer services were really helpful and helped to reorganise my dates with everything now a week later and that was all done fairly smoothly.
Well I had a very pleasant surprise from the time of checking with the warm welcome from the receptionist Peri who apart from being polite was incredibly helpful in making sure that my stay would be enjoyable by providing a run down of the local area, menus for food, shopping etc. I soon found out that the majority of the staff that i encountered were like that and anything you asked for they generally responded very quickly.
The hotel pictures give the impression that the hotel may be in a fairly isolated location but in actual fact restaurants were within a couple fo minutes walk and the mall was driving about 2 mins away and walking maybe 5-7mins.
Breakfast with great support from another of the employees Ebony was always a pleasant experience as you are always warmly greeted. It have several varieties of fruit, yogurt, a number of cereals, fruit juice and bagels with spreads to accomodate most food preferences.
The rooms were immaculately clean and the housekeeping staff were excellent, I had no issues with the decor as all the bed linen etc were to a very high quality even if a little dated and all the facilites worked fine.
It really was being in your own home just things on a slighter smaller scale.
I would recommend hiring a car for your trip as it is the best way to get around and although there are a number of malls around if you want to specifically visit a factory outlet they are anything from 1 1/2 to 2 hours away. Gaffney was really nice and Tanget which was closer to Charleston was also good.
I visited Charleston for the day but if I went back again I would stay there for 2 or 3 days as it is filled with a lot of history and the architecture and layout of the town is nice too and a day was not enough to enjoy everything. I have been advised that the best time to go is last week in Sept/early Oct as they have some kind of festival and it really comes alive. It was also near to the beach. If you have relatives or friends in North Carolina or Atlanta you could visit and that drive would probably be anthing from 2 to maybe 5 hrs depending on what part of the state they were located.
This was one of the worst snow storms they had during my visit so all flights were cancelled but I had no problems in extending my stay at a competitive price for the add days and by the end of my trip I really did feel like I was with family.
I really enjoyed by stay here and would definitely stay here again but may go a slightly earlier time in the year. Advise although on average the temperatures are really warm for this time of the year when it is as cold as it was you during my recent trip you will definitely need a thick coat or layers.
The internet connection was also good and if there was a problem they would usually resolve it within 10 minutes.
Thanks to all the staff that looked after me during my recent stay.. Miss Louise, Ebony, Peri, Victoria, Roberta (sorry if I forgot anyone) I hope to be back soon!
