Having read the two previous reviews I was really concerned about staying at the Days Inn Suites- one horrible review and one glowing review. I would review this property somewhere in the middle. Considering the economical price, I was actually impressed. The rooms are very large, especially the Kings. We were visiting Columbia for a wedding, so I had the opportunity to see several rooms. All the rooms were very clean. My King room had a separate "living room" with a 27" TV and a couch and a loveseat. There was also a microwave and refrigerator in this room. The furniture was not new and had some signs of wear, but not what I would call shabby. Then there was a double door that could be closed to separate the living room from the bedroom. The bedroom was adequate, but the mattresses are very firm-but not rock hard. If you require a soft mattress, you might consider somewhere else. I have a disc problem and I woke up with no back pain. There is another TV in the bedroom, a desk, a credenza and two night stands-all of which were in very good condition-not stained or shabby like a previous review. The vanity/sink are separate from the commode and bathtub. The bathtub was rather deep with working, timed hydrojets and that nifty concave shower curtain rod that curves away from the person showering. The bathtub also had a handicapped grab bar. My room even had a small balcony, although I did not use it. One complaint I had was the remote controls for both TV's did not work. The front desk supplied me with a paper explaining how to reprogram the remotes and then they worked fine. As a guest, I don't feel I should be responsible for this, but at least they were operational after re-coding them. The rooms were very quiet- I did not hear any other guests in nearby rooms, even though the hotel was sold out. The location is great- right off the interstate, close to Ft Jackson and lots of stores, Wal-mart, Sears etc just down the road. I would not consider this property in a seedy area, but yes-there is an adult book store nearby; but not the usual strip clubs and bars sometimes found in proximity to a military base. The staff was very helpful and polite. There are interior corridors and two elevators-not the drive up to your room type of place. The air conditioning in the interior corridors could have been a little better, but it was 98 degrees outside and the rooms were nice and cool. I would stay there again.
