“Clean Rooms - Good Breakfast - Close to University!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

This is an older Comfort Inn, but well-maintained and clean. It's very close to the University and local businesses. The staff members are all very efficient and friendly - we were able to check in and check out in seconds. The lounge is spacious with a large tv, and the breakfast was very good with both hot and cold items - my family enjoyed the waffles, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, and yogurt cups. They offer ample parking on all sides of the building in a well-lighted lot. Our room was plenty big enough with a flat-screen tv, microwave, coffee maker, and refrigerator. The heat/air unit was easy to use and our room stayed perfectly comfortable. The beds were very comfy, with plenty of soft pillows. The shower was just right, with a "shower massage" and we had plenty of fresh, soft towels, too. I would certainly choose this Comfort Inn again on my next trip to Clemson.

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor around the corner from the main hallway. It was very quiet.

“One night only”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

Very close to the University (and so are many others). Price was right for one night. Needs some updating. Beds were very comfortable.
Overwhelming smell of paint in the hallways. Wrote my name on the TV. The coffee accessories had a layer of dust...that was definitely a turnoff in the morning.

Room Tip: If you are thinking of connecting rooms, one of them must be a suite.

“Great for a football weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

The hotel is a nice no-frill hotel. The breakfast is solid and the lounge is pretty nice.

This hotel is in a great location. It is a walkable distance (1 mile) from bars and restaurants downtown. Also it is about the same distance to the stadium.

We had a little trouble with room keys and the sofa bed should be replaced for a newer one. Otherwise everything was good.

We have a good stay at your hotel this past weekend. The check-in staff were especially helpful and courteous.

“Great Spot for the Night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

My friends and I traveled to watch a Clemson football game and stayed at the Comfort Inn. We got checked in really quickly, which was good because we were running close to kick off! The front desk reccomended taking a taxi to the game and gave us a card to use, we called the taxi was there within 20 minutes and we were off! We walked back from the game because the traffic was so bad. The walk took a little while, but it wasnt a bad walk. When we got back we were interested in going out and getting some food. The front desk was a lot of help and printed out maps and gave menus.

The rooms were comfortable, can't complain. It is a typical travel hotel room, exactly what I expected. The breakfast was pretty good. A little crowded, though. Im sure when it is not football season, it is will be fine. They had cereal, waffles, pastries, biscuits and gravy, eggs. I dont know if they rolled out the red carpet for a sunday morning, but it was probably the best breakfast i had at a travel/economy hotel.

If for some reason i am back in Clemson i will deffinately stayed here again.

“Would stay again with one caveat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Overall this was a good place to stay. The suite was huge for the price, it was immaculate, and the front desk staff checking in and out were perfect. Plus the hotel is pet friendly which is important to me.

I started to question value, until I realized that I booked the room three days before a Clemson home game. I'm lucky I even got a room, much less a suite for $150. While it seems pricey, having a genuine two-room suite would be worth it's weight in gold to a family trapped in a mini-van together for 500 miles.

The two negatives aren't huge, but enough for me to point them out. First, the breakfast area was cramped and VERY hot. The food was standard two-star fare, it's difficult to mess it up, or to make it outstanding.

Secondly, housekeeping knocked at 8:00AM. Not a problem. We explained that we were going to get breakfast, take the dog out, and then pack and leave by 9:30. We had the discussion again at 8:10 when she knocked. A few minutes later, we went to breakfast, told her (she was hovering outside the door. Were we the only room that needed to be cleaned?) that our dog was still in the room, and we would be back soon. She wasn't happy. 8:45 after breakfast we have this conversation AGAIN when she knocks. We put the 'do not disturb' sign out hoping she would get the hint. All the while she's hovering outside our door.

At 9AM she knocks and we have the conversation. Again. By this time, my wife and I just want to get away from this woman. My wife takes the dog and a couple of bags to the car while I finish getting dressed. The housekeeper barges in without knocking and we have an awkward introduction for the 5th time. Now, she saw a man, a woman, and a dog enter the room. She saw a woman and a dog exit the room. What's left?

On the way out I observed that the housekeeping storage area was just down the hall from us. We were on the first floor. It would seem that housekeeping only works sequentially from nearest to furthest room.

Advice - ask for second or third floor if you're not leaving by 8AM.

Room Tip: Get second or third floor if you plan on staying past 8AM - housekeeping starts early on the first f...
