“Bus travel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 April 2012

Traveled with 41 other people on a bus trip from New Jersey to Savannah, Ga.. Each night we stayed at a different Country Inn and Suites located in Beaufort,SC; Savannah,GA; and Charleston, SC.. Without exception they were clean, comfortable, and had good breakfasts. Personnel were helpful and courteous. Highly recommend to all travelers.

“Surprisingly luxe!”

Although the view from the street shows a somewhat dated facade, we decided to try the Town and Country Inn. Always a little leary of rooms accessed from the outside, I was VERY pleasantly surprised to find a beautifully updated room with thick carpet, modern leather chairs in a comfortable seating area and granite topped furniture throughout. The lighting was perfect, bright but not too harsh and the bathroom felt like a residential bathroom, very welcoming.

We had breakfast at Trotters, their restaurant on site and again, were pleasantly surprised at the quality. Our server, Holly, was very attentive and the food was fantastic, with offerings from a breakfast buffet, as well as an omelet and crepe station, all for $9.99 per person. (Drinks not included.)

I'm very glad I didn't judge this book by it's slightly dated cover - it was quite the treasure!

Room Tip: We ended up with a room at the very back of the property, on the second floor, and it was very peace...

Thank you so much for the wonderful TripAdvisor reveiw! We are so happy that you gave us a chance and were pleased with the accommodations. As I am sure that you saw, we are undergoing a massive renovation and rebuilding project to enhance our guestrooms, facilities and facade. Scheduled to re-open in the late spring/early summer of this year, this exciting renaissance will include interior corridors, completely rebuilt and redesigned guestrooms, large new bathrooms, new furnishings and more. We do hope that you will be back in Charleston soon and will come by and re-visit the all new Town and Country!

“Not Happy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

I made my reservation at hotel due to family funeral, never once did reservation person state that hotel is under construction and there would be a crew on just outside of my door by 7:00 am.. My mother in-law woke up to constuction crew using very foul language not at a normal tone due to constuction noise the service desk did not acomadate in any way towards roomrate due to constuction, she also stated constuction would go on till christmas due to construction. I would not stay there due to rates being close to or the same as other hotels in area!!!!!

“Clean, but...”

I can't speak for any of the other rooms, but ours (#267) was clean, well appointed, relatively new carpet, and the A/C worked very well, which was critical since it was hovering around 100 degrees in Charleston the entire weekend we were there. The A/C was controlled by a wall-mounted digital thermostat that allows the temperature to be set to exactly the degree desired, which I feel is a very nice feature. Charleston hotels can be very pricey so if you want something in the $130 range, this was a decent value considering how high prices can be in that area. Our room had a wall-mounted 37" flat screen HDTV, which is not very common (i.e. wall mounted) for a hotel in this price range. However, reception was poor on some of the channels and none of the channels were in HD, even though it's an HDTV as I mentioned. I pointed this problem out on checkout and the woman said "they'd look into it." Except for a garbage truck emptying a nearby dumpster (about 5:30 Saturday morning!), it was pretty quiet the two nights we stayed there. But we found the garbage truck sound very disrupting though since it was so early, very loud, and of course woke us from a sound sleep. The person at the desk on checkout said there was nothing they could do about changing the garbage truck's schedule, so my wife and I feel the hotel should therefore move the dumpster further away from the rooms (it was only about 100 feet from our room). If you stay here on a weekend, request a room as far from the dumpster as possible. :)

“We were disappointed and we won't be back.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2011

We have stayed here a few times before. We travel to Charleston every summer, and have found this to be a pretty decent value and a very good location. When we first stayed here, there were not that many choices in the area, now that there are, we will stay elsewhere. Our room was clean, and comfortable, but the ice machine was broken for the majority of our stay. We were unaware of the construction, as it is not mentioned on the website. We were hoping for use of the fitness center, and it was not available due to construction. We found the manager, and desk clerk polite enough, but not particularly helpful. The fact that there is construction should mean a cheaper rate on the rooms, as the grounds are depressing and dusty outside. At least they could have made the buffet free considering the unavailable amenities that we thought we were getting. Don't bother staying here, there are nicer places right around the area.
