“Wonderful hospitality”

This was our first stay at a Bed & Breakfast and we were just amazed at the hospitality The Cabell House offered. When we arrived, Randy showed us to our room and welcomed us that evening for wine and cheese with the other guests. We have been to Charleston many times but this was our first stay at a Bed & Breakfast, so even though we had plans to meet friends, we made sure we made time to attend the wine & cheese that evening before heading out for dinner - Randy had an array of wine and cheese on hand for us and we enjoyed her conversation very much! Our room was clean (even under the bed!) and well-sized. Our bathroom was just a shower stall and a very tiny sink, but it was very functional and really all we needed for our trip. The Keurig in the room was also a great aspect! The full breakfast in the mornings was absolutely wonderful, eggs, bacon, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, juice...and Nikki will gladly get anything you might need and we enjoyed chatting with her as well. The location is perfect - nestled in amongst beautiful houses, you walk out the front door and can see The Battery, and walking to restaurants and shops is easy (for us at least!) The Cabell House really is such a gem to find, I would highly, highly recommend to anyone looking to stay at a Bed & Breakfast in the heart of Charleston. THANK YOU for such a wonderful stay!!

“First time at a B&B!”

I am horrible about remembering to write reviews, but our stay at The Cabell House has forced me to stop procrastinating and do it. This was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast, and the experience was awesome. We arrived very early and planned on parking and exploring until check in time. We were greeted by Bambi when we first arrived, who apologized for our room not being ready, and gave us a bottle of wine EVEN THOUGH WE WERE SEVERAL HOURS EARLY!! We were given ample privacy throughout our stay, and were also given a key to enter the house after staying out until the bars closed! In addition to the delicious breakfast every morning, wine and cheese were laid out in the late afternoon every day. The wine and cheese social allowed us to meet two other couples, and we hung out with one of the couples in downtown Charleston. We wouldn't have had this opportunity if we had stayed at a standard hotel. We were blown away by the hospitality. Although it was our first time staying at a B&B, the other couples expressed that the hospitality was above and beyond what they experienced at other B&Bs. Thanks to The Cabell House, we are sold on bed and breakfasts, especially this one.

“2nd Time”

Ok, so let me start by saying, I know I gave this 5 stars the first time, and by no means was this past trip bad or even close to it...however...we were missing one key ingredient.

Bambi wasn't working our stay this time, and it wasn't as warm and cozy and I am a little disappointed about it! Bambi we missed you and it's not the same at the Cabell House when you're not there! But, side note, Nikki was still awesome :)

We'll be back!

The Cabell House is wonderful. Bambi, the house manager, couldn't have been more gracious and caring. The house is beautiful. The location is great. The breakfast was wonderful. We will be back.

“Southern Hospitality at its finest”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

My Mom and I recently visited the Cabell House for a two night stay. It was my first visit to Charleston and from the moment we arrived felt instantly comfortable and right at home. Bambi (the house manager) greeted us at the door with her gracious warmth and hospitality and it continued throughout our entire visit. From the complimentary wine and cheese served every evening, to the homemade biscuits and honey butter and some of the best grits I've ever tasted for breakfast our every need and want was met with a smile and a nod.

We stayed in the Witsell Room which included a gorgeous new King sized bed. The room was comfortable for two, very clean and offered all the regular amenities (including a Kurig coffee maker). The bathroom was a good size, but FYI the sink is very small and a little difficult to maneuver.

Breakfast was delicious, but was the same menu both mornings. It included fresh fruit, croissants, organic yogurt and granola followed by freshly cooked eggs, bacon & sausage, grits and biscuits.

Bambi was instrumental in providing a wealth of information about the City, restaurant recommendations and was superbly helpful with all aspects of planning our daily activities. The warm and cozy environment created by Bambi initiated interaction and conversation between all the other guests staying at the house making it that more memorable.

I would highly recommend a visit to The Cabell House. We are already reviewing our calendars to plan our return visit. THANK YOU BAMBI!!!!!!

Room Tip: The Witsell Room is ideal for two guests.
