Pet friendly hotel with lots of areas for exercising your pet. Rooms are average with small bathrooms. Rooms need updating. Location not convenient to downtown. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. $20 pet fee per night.

The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a few miles from the downtown historic district and is really not within walking distance. The free trolly system was not very reliable and is more of a free alternative to the public bus system.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The pool was nice, the rooms were clean and well-kept, and service was awesome. They also have hot breakfast in the morning which was really good. If you have dogs, they are dog friendly + there are two good parks across from the hotel on the waterway that are great for taking dogs for a walk. We were right downtown and not too far, about 10 minutes, from Folly Beach. Great trip. We will definitely stay here again & hope to return soon.

I have stayed in several Best Western hotels and have always been impressed and very happy with them but the Charleston DownTown excelled all of my previous high expectations. All of their staff were proactively helpful, genuinely friendly and appeared to want to truly make their guest experiences excellent. They are also pet friendly - but importantly for those without pets or for those (like me) with a small non shedding pet, with there was no evidence that this was a pet friendly hotel - cleanliness was exceptional. The hotel staff were friendly with the pets and owners - I have stayed in other pet friendly places where the staff have made pets and owners unwelcome. There was a problem with temperature in the fitness center and within less than 5 mins of telling staff about this, maintenance were on site to fix the problem (with a smile). I would stay at this hotel again and recommend it to anyone staying in Charleston. Charleston has expensive accommodation and this is a great rate for such a good experience.
