My wife and I stayed at he Hawthorne Suites in Charleston SC Jan. 14-16, 2012. The desk clerk was nice and we had no issues at check in. When we went to the room there was nothing special about it. Seemed clean with no issues. Later we started smelling cigarette smoke and early in the morning it smelled as if someone was actually smoking in the room. We mentioned this to the desk the next morning and she confirmed that those rooms were once smoking rooms and that they would look into it. When we returned later after housekeeping the fan was running in the bathroom and no other difference noted except that the room had not been completed restocked of towels. Some correction! We told the desk clerk the next morning when checking out. He was very nice and credited a small amount of money to our bill and said he would talk with the manager. He was surprised that the other desk clerk had not offered to move us in that the hotel was not at capacity and other rooms were available. We have family in Charleston and visit often, but not sure if we will return to this hotel.

We didn't have reservations - so walked in and found a cheerful - helpful employee behind the counter. Offered us a great rate and shard with us that they were having a Manager's reception that evening. The rooms were clean and comfortable! The beds were so comfortable - we got a king size bed and slept well...!!!

After sharing a room with my husband for two weeks was thrilled to find this place has two TV's, separate bedroom and kitchen area and bath tub/shower. Now tonight I can stay up late and watch TV when he goes to bed. With my Wyndham card only $82 and $89 on the weekend. This also includes breakfast. View of small boatyard which is not unpleasant. Free drinks and snacks in lobby at 5:30. Nice staff and spotless, staying four nights.

The only negative is that it is on a busy street and not what I expected however overall a good value includes breakfast. Did not feel comfortable in the area if I were traveling alone.
