“Great Place to stay for Business or Pleasure!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I went with my husband on his business trip and we stayed at The Hampton Inn Historic District. The hotel is centrally located to great shopping, fantastic restaurants, and historic sights. The hotel rooms are spacious, exceptionally clean, and the breakfast each morning was delicious. The staff members were friendly and helpful. We were greeted at the door with a very warm welcome by a super positive gentleman who took our luggage to the room. There is a small business area and also an exercise area to use. You can't go wrong by staying here for business or pleasure.

Room Tip: I enjoyed the clean duvet as a bedspread and not one someone else has slept on.

“Good property but LOUD”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I recently stayed at the hotel for 3 nights - 2 nights business and 1 leisure. The hotel is a good location with lots of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. It was clean, well maintained and the staff was friendly. My biggest complaint was it was so LOUD. My room was right off the lobby and all night long, I heard complete conversations, people screaming and laughing. I was also able to hear everything in the room next to me and every time the rooms around me flushed the toilet or turned on the water. This hotel is an older property and definately needs to rethink it's sound proofing.

Additionally, room was not cleaned the first day and the subsequent days it was only partly cleaned.

“Very nice and wonderful staff! But beware of any reppairs during your stay!!”

Great hotel in a wonderful location. Check in was a breeze and Penelope at the front desk was absolutely wonderful. Told her I was on weight watchers and could not eat cookies. She took me to get healthy snacks, thank you!!! First night was perfect and our room on 5th floor was wonderful. Trolley is right across the street which is nice. Still here and unfortunetly they are doing repairs on wall paper right outside our door. Very bad smell and it's made me so very sick and nautious:( Wish I had been informed of this and very unhappy!!!
Overall though this is a wonderful hotel and I would recommend it!!

Thank you so much for your business and review of our hotel. It is with comments and suggestions such as yours that we are able to refine our business and continue to offer the service and accomodations our guests have come to expect. I want to apologize about the repairs that were going on during your visit. We try to limit these at all times however we had just completed an upgrade to our fire alarm system which required us to reinstall some of the wallpaper in the hotel. We sincerely hope this wont keep you from returning to us in the future as we do these repairs with you in mind.

Thanks again for the patronage of the Hampton Inn Historic District.

“Wonderful guest service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We stayed two nights in December 2011 celebrating my birthday in Charleston with a weekend getaway and the service we received at this tiny Hampton Inn far exceed the service I've received at some four diamond properties.

We checked in with Kasey, who was kind, professional, prompt and offered to store my ice cream birthday cake for us since there wasn't a freezer in our room. Our room was small, but clean and lovely (though it did smell some of smoke).

We did not dine in the hotel, but the staff made a nice special occasion of my birthday and provided us with plates/cutlery without prompting. Each team member we interacted with was kind, offered a genuine smile and seemed happy to be there. A few even greeted me by name and wished me a happy birthday. It was a nice personalized touch that made the experience memorable.

I will certainly return to this little Hampton Inn when we return to Charleston! Kudos to the GM!

“Clean but Noisy Rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

people found this review helpful

Location was great; desk clerk and bellman were friendly and helpful. Tour bus reservations are made by bellman and bus driver comes into lobby and gets you. Bus loads across the street at the Visitors' Center. The room was very clean and comfortable but very noisy. I could hear people talking in the next room and I could hear their shower running. My room overlooked the parking lot which was active and noisy...made it difficult to sleep. Breakfast was good with scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, and beverages.

Room Tip: Choose a room not overlooking the parking lot and above the second floor.
