“Clean but Noisy Rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Location was great; desk clerk and bellman were friendly and helpful. Tour bus reservations are made by bellman and bus driver comes into lobby and gets you. Bus loads across the street at the Visitors' Center. The room was very clean and comfortable but very noisy. I could hear people talking in the next room and I could hear their shower running. My room overlooked the parking lot which was active and noisy...made it difficult to sleep. Breakfast was good with scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, and beverages.

Room Tip: Choose a room not overlooking the parking lot and above the second floor.

“A bit disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Two queens beds were nice, but missed having a comfy chair. The heat didn't work, but they fixed it. They didn't tidy, take the garbage or linens on the bathroom floor, or leave new cups between nights. Brought towels and cups when I called. Weak shower.

As a side note, two luggage stands would be nice in rooms with two beds, but I haven't found this anywhere.

“Great Hotel and great location in Charleston Historic District.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

This has been my favorite hotel for the last four years. This was my most favorite hotel that I stayed in as my son went through his four years at the Citadel. It became my home away from home. The Ladies that prepare the breakfast do a fabulous job of giving you there "Southern Hospitality"
The front desk staff is very accomodating. Charleston has alot to offer. The downtown area has character. The homes are very eclectic. The open air markets, restaurants my favorite (Fleet Landings)
So when in Charleston stay at the Hampton you will love it like I do. You wont want to stay any where else.

Just one note: Would like for the hotel to be a bit more competitive in there room rate.

“Loved it thank you Curtis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We stayed here for three days while visiting Charleston. Upon arrival we were greeted by Curtis who assisted us with our bags and gave us great information about Charleston.

The hotel is within walking to everything. You don't need a car, but if walking isn't your thing the trolley stops out front.

Breakfast gets a little crowded and we sat outside a couple of morning due to lack of seating. Some of that was due people who continued to enjoy the tables with their laptops after they ate grrrr. The breakfast staff are wonderful and the morning bell hop is the happiest person I have ever met. Just a ray of sunshine!

We will stay here again on our next trip to Charleston.

“A clean, affordable, pleasant hotel on perimeter of historic district”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

If you are looking for a moderately-priced, clean, comfortable room, in walking distance of historic Charleston, the Hampton Inn is a great choice. The rooms/beds were very clean and comfortable, the shower was powerful, and the lobby offered warm afternoon cookies and endless coffee all day/night.

The staff was helpful and friendly. The reservationist gave me a discount on my room as I had a comparable plan to AAA, and the front desk girls were helpful and accommodating. They all reminded me that a $12 charge per day would be charged for parking, which I like knowing about ahead. (This is well worth the $ rather than choosing to stay farther away to save on parking when you would be in a less convenient location and would pay $5 every time you moved your car throughout the trip.) Above all, the lady who fixes the complimentary breakfast went over and beyond to provide me with food items (after she had put everything away) that would be easy on my stomach, because I had gotten sick the night before and came down after the scheduled breakfast time. At other hotels, I would have been told "Too late!"

Thank you, Hampton Inn, for lovely accommodations during our trip to one of our favorite (and most frequented) cities. Keep up the excellence provided and I will definitely stay at this hotel again in the future!

Room Tip: Rooms farther from ice machine end would be quieter.
