“Best experience ever!”

This past January, my friends and I finally left Chicago for our much anticipated Golf trip to Charleston. Wow- - is the first thing that comes to mind. I had never been to Charleston before and had no idea what to expect. I certainly didn't expect to land at the best Hotel in one of the most fun towns this country has to offer. This place had everything we could need and more. Not only was the Hotel staff knowledgeable and friendly, they made a point to greet us each day and even helped us with transportation arrangements. I have never had better service or accomodations anywhere in the country. The pool was warm and the people were first class. Perfect location. I'm coming back to Charleston and would only stay here. A special shout out to Andrea, Marcus, and Devin all staff members who had a wonderful influence on our stay. Did I mention the great rates? Thanks again Marriot. Erich Baldauf-Chicago

“A good hotel with super fast Wi Fi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

The hotel is within walking distance of the city’s wonderful historic district and many restaurants and shops. The rooms have been renovated and include modern touches such as ample electric outlets and video inputs for computers as part of the desk. The flat screen TV included the local channels and some others including ESPN in high definition. Channels were navigated via the LodgeNet system. The menu took a little bit to master but once I figured out the options, it was handy to access channels via the on screen guide. A four digit code was provided at check in to access the free Wi Fi. The Wi Fi tested out at almost 9 Mbps, the fastest I had ever seen in a hotel. Upload speed clocked at more than double that. The lobby has been renovated in line with that of other Courtyards and included a large touch screen TV with news and weather updates and local information. An outdoor pool sits between the building and the second level parking deck. At $14 a night parking wasn’t cheap (and the spaces were very tight) but other hotels in the area charge a similar rate for parking. I stayed at the nearby Hampton Inn on my last visit to Charleston. While I liked the Hampton Inn’s location across from the visitor’s center a little better, the Courtyard rooms were nicer (although there’s no free breakfast in the morning).

“Great Location and Stay!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

My mom and I wanted to get away for a couple of days and had seen all of the Great reviews on Trip Advisor. Got a great rate for a couple of days stay last minute, booked about a week before our stay.
We paid to park our car at the hotel and walked everywhere. We did take a cab back from dinner each night and the cab was less than $5 one evening and $7 the next.
We had wanted to inquire about where the carriage tours leave from and price from the concierge but she was with another couple after we had breakfast. We stood there for about 10 minutes while she spoke with them and she did make eye contact with us but did not say anything along the lines of "I will be with you in just a minute". Rather than wait we decided to head towards the Market Street area where we knew the carraige had left from in previous visits to Charleston.
We did speak with her that afternoon and she made great suggestions for walking routes to dinner and her recommendation of Virginia's for breakfast the next morning was a great choice. We also took her recommendation on seeing one of the museum homes. The only concerns I have with the concierge is that there is only one person on duty as a time and when we came back in the afternoon the front desk had to call her to the concierge desk.
The hotel has been recently been renovated and was very clean and the rooms are nicely sized and decorated. The bathrooms have room to move around and such. The staff is friendly and beds are comfy. The breakfast staff was especially friendly and personable!
I really enjoyed my healthy start breakfast of egg whites with havarti cheese and turkey canadian bacon that allowed me to stay on my Weight Watchers plan. They serve Starbuck's coffee and while the cafe is not opened all day, you can get a Starbuck's coffee or othe beverage by asking at the front desk when the cafe is not opened.

Room Tip: We were on the 2nd floor and did not have any issues with noise. The windows have a sheer curtain a...

“Great place to stay - location, service, rooms - wonderful!!”

Recently traveled to Charleston with two girlfriends for a long weekend. The Marriott is a lovely property, conveniently located within walking distance of great restaurants, shopping, and the houses, gardens and churches of "enchanting" Charleston. The rooms are clean and beautifully appointed and the staff is courteous and responsive. What makes the Marriott truly standout, however, is the service provided by Chief Concierge Kevin McQuade. Within a half-hour of meeting Kevin, he had arranged our entire stay. No pouring over guidebooks and guessing which tours were right for us, nor taking chances on restaurants. Loved the walking tour with Ed Grimble, very informative. Definitely will be back and have added Kevin McQuade to my speed-dial under "All Things Charleston"!!

The concierge, Kevin McQuade, was fantastic! He gave us many wonderful ideas for our stay and helped steer us away from some activities that we might not have enjoyed. He was able to make several yummy dinner reservations and book us on some unbelievable tours.
The hotel is beautiful, right within walking distance of the historic downtown area.
I will definitely be back!
