My mom and I wanted to get away for a couple of days and had seen all of the Great reviews on Trip Advisor. Got a great rate for a couple of days stay last minute, booked about a week before our stay.
We paid to park our car at the hotel and walked everywhere. We did take a cab back from dinner each night and the cab was less than $5 one evening and $7 the next.
We had wanted to inquire about where the carriage tours leave from and price from the concierge but she was with another couple after we had breakfast. We stood there for about 10 minutes while she spoke with them and she did make eye contact with us but did not say anything along the lines of "I will be with you in just a minute". Rather than wait we decided to head towards the Market Street area where we knew the carraige had left from in previous visits to Charleston.
We did speak with her that afternoon and she made great suggestions for walking routes to dinner and her recommendation of Virginia's for breakfast the next morning was a great choice. We also took her recommendation on seeing one of the museum homes. The only concerns I have with the concierge is that there is only one person on duty as a time and when we came back in the afternoon the front desk had to call her to the concierge desk.
The hotel has been recently been renovated and was very clean and the rooms are nicely sized and decorated. The bathrooms have room to move around and such. The staff is friendly and beds are comfy. The breakfast staff was especially friendly and personable!
I really enjoyed my healthy start breakfast of egg whites with havarti cheese and turkey canadian bacon that allowed me to stay on my Weight Watchers plan. They serve Starbuck's coffee and while the cafe is not opened all day, you can get a Starbuck's coffee or othe beverage by asking at the front desk when the cafe is not opened.
