I've always wanted to go to Charleston and while checking out some packages on Luxury Link, I came across the Vendue Inn. I was reading reviews and one reviewer said the interior queen room was fine. I've traveled extensively internationally and my general criteria for a room: safe, clean, and centrally located. February is low season and I thought we'd get good rates. The rate actually went down on our last day and they automatically gave us the lower rate. I figured the money I saved with the room, I could splurge more on tours and meals (Charleston is a culinary town!!)

Check-in was easy; a bellman was also there to greet us. We self-parked at a garage that's only a block away. We stayed across from the main hotel on the second floor. The room is small but has everything you need. I liked the exposed brick and the red accent wall. There aren't any windows but there is a skylight. The wine and cheese in the afternoon, turn-down service, and the milk and cookies are a nice touch. The chocolate chip cookies were REALLY good!!

Breakfast was also very good. Coffee, juice, and made to order breakfasts. I got something different each day. Bananas Foster French toast, mini Belgian waffles with strawberries, and a bacon/cheese frittata. Service was friendly and efficient.

The downsides are only a few. Our room was right by the ice machine so there was a bit of foot traffic and we could also hear some noise from our neighbors. The building isn't brand new so we also heard strange sounds coming from the walls (we called about it, they said it was probably the pipes). The bed and pillows were a little too soft for me. I'd probably return and get a larger room that wasn't by the ice machine.

Service and location is where this place excels. Robbie, the concierge, called me before we arrived and made dinner reservations for us. Our servers were always friendly and glad to give us recommendations on things to do or places to eat. We enjoyed using the bikes to ride around downtown and the views. The location was steps from the fountain, the Old Market, and the Battery. We left our car parked until we needed it to drive out to Boone Hall. We also checked out the view from the Rooftop. It's probably a better place when the weather is warmer. We also came back after dinner because they had live music. Graham Whorley was great!

All in all, it was a short but pleasant trip to the Holy City! We'll definitely be back. :)

My husband and I stayed here in January because the rates are lower during this time of year. We had the King Suite and were totally blown away. The bed was like sleeping on clouds and the linens were very nice. Our room had a fire place and very nice bath. The turn down service, the milk and cookies at night, and the staff made this a night to remember. We found it very hard to return home. Be sure to dine in the restaurant located in the hotel. But that is a whole different review!

Loved this hotel. One thing I will add if you stay in the building across the street is that they have coffee and an assortment of hot teas in the small lobby each morning. This is nice because you can take it back to your room if you need your coffee fix before you see the light of day.

Spent a couple of days over our anniversary in Charleston. We were given a room across the street from the main inn. The room was beautiful, although no view to speak of. We had a fireplce, whirlpool tub, king bed...it was great!! Sherry on the dresser for the evening... The Inn also provides a wine and cheese hour from 4-5pm, with more than just cheese and crackers, It was very nice. We were close to many restraunts and bars...close to the river, walking distance to many historic sights.
