Our first trip to Charleston and our first visit to a B and B was great. The Barksdale House Inn, is centrally located. We barely moved our car from arrival to departure. All the places we wanted to visit were within walking distance. We stayed in the Main house, room #3. The bed was comfortable, although a bit high off the ground. We had a few issues with the cleanliness and repair (hair in the tub drain and fireplace not working), but they were promptly corrected. This is an old house, the stairs creak and noise travels, perhaps the Carriage House is a bit less noisy. The staff was great, there if you wanted to chat or ask questions, but not pushy. The breakfast is available in your room, in the foyer, or outside on the porch - we did all 3 - and enjoyed each one. The pastries are home made and the hot food was great. It's also nice that breakfast is available until 10:00 am. Views are limited to the parking lot or a gym, but the house is not located in an area known for it's view. We enjoyed our stay, and recommend the Barksdale House Inn for it's value, location and service.
