“Great location and overall good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012 via mobile

Nice hotel with great location. As a diamond member we we were upgraded to a larger room. Room had a great view of market and horse carriages. Curtains in room had a dusty smell.
Bathroom was small.
Hotel staff overall was helpful but we did experience a few staff members that did not provide Hilton quality service.

Breakfast foods not replaced timely. Lots of empty containers. One server provided poor service. Empty glasses etc.

Latrell provided excellent service in restaurant. Exceeded expectation by even giving us a pitcher of tea to take to our room when we asked for a to go cup of tea.

Tried to extend our stay and called down to desk around midnight, sounded like we woke up desk clerk. Had to call twice and repeat request three times before desk clerk got it straight.

Hotel recommends Carolina Polo for carriage rides. This company had a representative in the hotel. When we went to schedule tour the representative was reading a newspaper. He looked up from the newspaper and appeared troubled that we were asking him questions about the ride. Asked where carriages pick up and where it goes. his responses were "over there" and "around the city". Needless to say we chose not to give this company any of our money.

It would have been nice to have a microwave in the guest room.

Overall we had a good stay with the few exceptions listed.

“Great location, good service, nice rooms.”

My husband I stayed at the Double Tree hotel in the historic district of the Charleston and within steps of the Market. We were greeted by everyone including the manager who was very friendly and asked where we were from and gave us a recommendation of a local seafood restaurant to eat at since we had not yet eaten dinner. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. We could see the Market from out room along with the rest of the surrounding historical district. The hotel is close to the Charleston Waterfront Park and walking distance of most of the historical sites and many many restaurants. Parking is at a premium in this area but we saved on gas as we walked everywhere. I would definitely stay here again.

“Spend your money elsewhere”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Upon checking in, which was prompt, but courteous, we arrived to our room. How this hotel can still have a Hilton Flag is beyond me. Firstly, as a Hilton Honors member, I felt as if my reservation for a King would be honored. We arrived to the room which was 2 stories, with a small living space down and bedroom up. The bedroom contained 2 doubles, and the bathroom was so small you could barely turn around in it. Not to mention the tube TV upstairs, and the fact the room was about 78 degrees upon arrival. It smelled mildew, although I couldn't spot any, and the carpet was rather old. I'm in Charleston about 45 nights a year, and usually don't stay here, but because the event was there, I gave it a shot. Never again. After voicing complaints and concerns with the front desk to absolutely no avail, and almost a "who cares" attitude, I immediately contacted 1 of the 3 hotel's I usually stay at and booked a room. I cancelled the Saturday night stay, and ate the Friday night charge and checked in elsewhere. Even when I walked by the front desks, bags in hand, there was no attempt by the staff to even try to save this. I may have even "gutted" it out reluctantly for 1 night, but reality is they didn't care enough about us so, I didn't care enough about them. The best thing this place has going for it is location, location, location...and warm cookies.

Room Tip: Don't go, but if you must ask for the Hayne Street rooms

“Hotel Has Seen Better Days”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

The only thing this resort has going for it is the location. I stayed at this resort on December 7, 2011and was not pleased with my accomodations. The carpets were stained and littered with debris, the rooms are outdated, the bathroom is extra small...not worth the money. I am a Diamond member and when I complained to the front desk about my visit the response was "you did not like it...that is suprising...we are always full". No apology, no question as to what was caused my unhappiness...no true concern. I will not stay at this location in the future...there are many fine hotels in Charleston...but this is not one of them.
