Just got back from a business trip and the conference was held at the Francis Marion. The hotel is historic and the lobby is quite impressive, but the people were even more so. In particular, we were welcomed by the valet/bellman, Oliver, who took our luggage, waited while I checked in (husband was self parking in the city garage next door), brought me up to our room, got ice and made a dinner suggestion (and warned me about a tourist trap as well!) He was certainly a standout! But other staff including the housekeepers, concierge, front desk were wonderful too. Others have written about the small bathrooms, and they were tiny. New sink with a small vanity, but used a table in the room that had a makeup mirror to store things. The room was spacious and had a nice alcove with a reading chair and table. All in all, a wonderful stay and would definitely go back.
