I have been there many times and it has never failed to meet my expectations. The hotel is clean and yet historic. The staff are extremely nice and the restaurant has great food.

I would give a 5 star rating if the bathroom shower curtain didn't smell like mildew and and the water pressure wasn't so low. However, the hotel is historic and very close to all of the exciting downtown shops and restaurants. Staff great.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Charleston SC. Not only was Charleston a beautiful city to visit but also was my stay at the Francis Marion Hotel an excellent experience. I knew as the valet parking attendant opened my car door I was in for a special experience. The bell keep was great and guided me to the front desk for check-in and stayed with me until I was comfortably in my room. He also provided information about the Francis Marion that permitted me to easily navigate within the beautiful landmark. As I walked in the hotel with its spacious high ceilings and beautiful décor I could feel the history and the graciousness. The staff had me in my room within 10 minutes of leaving my car.

My room experience was also an excellent experience. Beautifully decorated with an excellent view of the city. The staff and the room service was great too! I dined at the Swamp Fox restaurant on the facility. Their food quality and pricing was spot on.

I think if you don’t seriously consider staying at this great historic landmark you will miss a significant part of Charleston SC.

For several years, our company has chosen not to have a Christmas party, instead having a "Kick-Off Party" to begin the new year. We have found that this takes a lot of stress off of trying to choose a date that doesn't conflict with something, and we believe improves attendance.
Our 2012 Kick-Off Party was this past Saturday (1/21/12) night at the Beautiful and Historic Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston.
Planning was seemless. Co-operation was superb. We chose the Colonial Room, it was set wonderfully and provided just what we wanted.
The food was excellent - a wonderful array of delectable treats, served with pride and professionalism. The staff was absolutely perfect: unobstrusive, yet always close by. Our Team wanted for nothing as the party started, continued and ended.
Yes, this was our fourth event at the Francis Marion Hotel in the last 8 years. Never disappointed, and always eager to return.
