Reserved a two double bed room over a month prior to actual arrival date. Upon arrival we were told that they didn't have any two double bed rooms. Because there is limited lodging in this small town we were forced to take a room with just a king size bed for which they charged us more money, in other words, we had to pay for their mistake. Also, they had not turned on the air conditioning and with the triple digit heat it took until morning for the room to cool down. After sending my comments to the coporate offices of Days Inn the Barnwell Manager gave me a big $19.00 refund after indicating in an email that I would be getting a full refund. Not a good way to run a business.

My daughter called it "the worst hotel ever". My wife wanted to rate it a half star/circle and I agree but 1 star/circle is as low as it would go. First off, it's more of a "motel" than a "hotel". The pictures on the website are deceiving. I was expecting to see a HDTV (brought the PS3) and we had an old Zenith tv. We couldn't use the "avi" inputs because there was no way to access them (the remote didn't work for that and the menu on the tv didn't have the option for that). The place was supposedly filled to capacity on our first night but the owner promised to "try" to get us a HDTV on the next day when the majority of the patrons left. This is after I brought up the advertisement on the website that obviously wasn't true. Evidently the rooms filled up quickly the next day (after I was told that some rooms were vacant) and we never got the tv.
Two lamps were in our room and neither of them worked. One of them didn't even have a button to click on (there was an empty space where the button USED to be).
And the bathroom... oh my gosh... there was something that appeared to be... let's just say those brown streaks on the bathroom door didn't look appealing. I asked the receptionist to have house keeping take care of that but the next day... the door hadn't been touched. I saturated the door with Lysol and that made it look worse (and brought out more stains than were actually visible before).
My wife was VERY disappointed with what appeared to be "blood stains" on the shower curtains that didn't completely wash out. I was disappointed with the room and I even thought about letting them keep the money and going to another town to get a room.
The receptionist was very nice though. And as bad as our experience was, this is still the best option in Barnwell, SC. Whenever we come down south again... I won't go any further than Orangeburg if I have to get a room.

We were in Barnwell for a wedding and had stayed here 5 years earlier and found it to be ok then so decided to stay here again. Unfortunatley, the last 5 years have put alot of wear on this motel. The first night our sheets on our king size bed were so nubby that it felt like sand on the bed so that made for a miserable night. The top sheet was so thin, you could hold it up and watch TV thru it. I complained and the 2nd night the sheets were much better. The tile grout in the bathroom was disgusting and there was a huge crack between the grout and the tub.The toilet paper holder was rusty looking. The room smelled of chemicals or incense or something - same as the office. Overall, the motel just looks run down and in need of some updates. Hope we don't have to make any more overnight trips to Barnwell if this is their "finest".

My family and I were traveling to SC to take care of some school business for my son, and we decided to stay at Days Inn Barnwell. Unable to find any recent travelers comments on the hotel, we decided that no comments are probably better than bad comments.

The front desk clerk/hotel manager was friendly and welcoming and he certainly takes pride in caring for the landscape. The guests seem to be mostly male blue collar business travelers that enjoy loitering. Parking at the hotel was inadequate: too little. The small pool was always pre-occupied by various organizations: Fire Department for training; Summer kids program, etc. Our 1st room was in a location that was a little dark in the day time, so my husband asked for another room, and hotel management was quick to respond to our needs. After we relocated rooms we had the opportunity to meet the housekeeper and her family, and they did an excellent job on cleaning the room. Overall, our stay was slightly better than average in comparison to comparable hotels in a small town, but average when compared to all others.
