I ended up with a great rate on Hotwire and was a bit concerned when I saw that the hotel is south of I-4 which is what you take going to Newport, RI from Providence... there's no other way to get over, so I basically would have to drive North to then drive South... What I quickly learned when I landed at the awesome and convenient airport, is everything is really close in the nation's smallest state... and it all took less than 10 minutes of extra driving time. While it's still relatively close to the airport, the exit for the motel does make you feel like you're in the boonies, which I appreciate. It is wooded and quiet and the hotel is very inviting... from the entrance and design to the friendly woman working the front desk on Saturday night.
She couldn't have been friendlier and told me she'd already yelled at a group of high school kids to be quiet (it was just 10pm so I thought that was a very good sign!) and she arranged for me to have a room away from theirs without me even requesting.
The room was large and imaculate... Sure, there were a few signs of wear in the furniture, etc... but the overall cleanliness and brightness of the room, along with the flat screen tv, refrigerator and microwave more than made up for it.
Where the hotel really shines is its breakfast - piping hot, freshly made eggs (not egg patties as some hotels have like a McDonalds)... and a friendly woman who offered to make me a waffle, along with really nice muffins, croissants, cereals, juices and piping hot coffee made this a great breakfast and definitely worth the stay.
I can't say enough good about the people of this hotel I will definitely go back - even if I have to drive a few extra miles to get to Providence or Newport...
