My husband, toddler and I stayed at the Watch Hill Inn and Annex in mid Sept. for a week. We reserved apartment B200 located in a separate building directly above the main office and we were not disappointed. You simply cannot get closer to the gorgeous harbor than this. Simply fantastic view. Incredible amount of privacy as I believe only ours and one other unit (not in use at the time) occupied the upper part of this building. The deck overlooking the street and bay was sooo relaxing and amazing. We were just enchanted. The unit itself is amazing, you get what you pay for people. Beautiful flooring, top notch everything, I even thought the kitchen sink was pretty! Large deep oversized tub, excellent water pressure, granite counters in bath and in kitchen, huge walk in closet which can hold all of your luggage and then some, a great little dining area, unique and pleasant lighting, a gas fireplace, and the list goes on. The place is so spacious and clean, clean, CLEAN! I could eat off the floor when we got in, it was that spotless. My two minimal, and I do mean minimal complaints would be, yes, a king bed would be nice and an alarm clock would be nice (I didn't bring one). Housekeeping was great when a tip was left. I only wish they wouldn't enter the room if they can hear you as they did one day, I think they should call first, or provide something small to put on the door. Otherwise, this is a first rate establishment with priceless views. We could not have been happier here and I highly recommend it. We did not eat in the restaurant, I don't even know if it was open since we were here in off season.
A word to off season visitors. Watch Hill and it's environs do not seem very committed to shoulder season travelers. Restaurants are closed or have limited hours. The carousel is closed except on the weekends. Even the beach is closed during the week and only open on weekends for a fee. This was probably the most disappointing aspect as we stayed here during the week in the hopes of having a beach to walk to. There is access through the private yacht parking lot to a spit of sand that has dunes you can traverse to a peaceful and beautiful (but massively seaweedy) penninsula of sand that is not part of the weekend/fee beach. However, this is a difficult journey for a two year old, and lots of carrying is involved. If that parking lot allowed public parking, it would have been more managable. That said if you have young energetic kids, this actually would make for a fun adventure for them.
But back to the review at hand. Our stay here at Watch Hill Annex was absolutely fabulous. B200 was everything and more, it was just super. And if you think the price is high, think about it, you can't get a closet in NYC for under $350 a night, and here you get a WHOLE apartment!!! That is up to date, beautiful and fabulous in every way! Now that is a deal!!
