My husband and I stay at NYLO - Warwick whenever we're in Rhode Island, and we've always had a fantastic experience. The hotel itself is in a converted brick factory, located right on the river. parking is ample, and we've never had a problem finding a spot. They do offer valet for those who don't want to park their own car. I love the charm of it. The inside of the main lobby is very chic and industrial looking with exposed brick, concrete and duct work. There is a little library section with books and magazines and very comfortable chairs. Usually the lobby is lit by only soft lighting and candlelight, which I think really softens up the industrial feel of the room. There is a restaurant there....it always smells wonderful, though we've never eaten there. The bar/lounge area is spacious - and there are multiple plush couches and chairs to sit on. On weekends we do like to reserve a couch on the deck over looking the river, just for a change of scenery. They do have cocktail waitresses who make their rounds between the deck and lounge area so you don't have to fight your way through the crowds (it does get busy there on weekends) to get a drink. I absolutely love the guests rooms. The floor and walls are concrete and there is a wall mounted flat panel TV in the rooms. For those used to carpeted hotel rooms, it can feel a little cold. I personally think it just has a clean and fresh feeling to it. The Queen size bed is large, fluffy, and is like sleeping on a cloud. My favorite part is the shower - it does have a rain head nozzle which I absolutely love, so I always end up taking an extra long shower while there. The only negative is that because the bar area is a huge draw on the weekends, you'll sometimes have to deal with the drunks going back up to their rooms (noisily at that) after the bar shuts down for the night. Overall this hotel is a gem. Put this in NYC and you'll pay $250/night easily for this boutique hotel. Because it's in Warwick, RI of all places, join their email list and you'll get constant promos for $79/night. I know this hotel isn't currently open due to the hard hit it took during the RI flooding recently, but it is slated to reopen in the fall of 2010 and I can't wait to go back.
