The Larchwood Inn is the place that we routinely place our out of town guests--all of whom have found the place charming and convenient. The atmosphere is pleasant, and definately not New England pretentious. The food, especially the soups are above par, and in fact we have chosen to eat our Thanksgiving meal at the inn for the last three years. The room prices are good, especially given the inflated summer prices in the region--much, much, better than the sterile holiday inn up the highway. Thursday afternoon/evenings at the bar offer a unique experience--dance music and jazz ala 1940s--and one of the classic bartenders of all time.
If you want an easy place, off of the main South County tourist insanity track at affordable prices-we recommend the larchwood whole heartedly. If you want luxury and pampering and high prices--try elsewhere.
