What a shame there are so many negative reviews here. this is not the Carleton in Cannes-and yes I've been there. It is an old dated motel directly on the ocean with a very informal atmosphere. Last summer I inquired about a cot and immediately the staff insist they move us to an apt with a sofa and a cot. THEY offered to move all of our stuff while we were on the beach-we did however do it ourselves. We have been going there for 20 years and our rooms were NEVER dirty. A few more comments:
DRUNKS: well what can I say-have you frequented any restaurants in your own town lately? I saw some college kids here and there - on foot by the way - and I might add there is a large police presence.
PRICE: Anyone who complains about price is just uninformed. What is the price difference between a 2 BR 2 bath house on a residential street and the same exact house sitting directly on the ocean. Come on you're smarter than that. Location is everything. Oh and do your homework, see how much the other places charge. They are all within the same price range, why ....um......because its direct waterfront.

Stayed here for one night again this summer. Staff was much friendlier than the previous years. The parking lot attendent seemed most out going of all the staff, very friendly. We got a top floor room like we have always had. Bed was extra hard this time, and the room need a renovation.
I was hoping the beach would be a bit nicer this year, but it was still more gravel than sand. But the "private beach" helps thin the crowd a little.
Can't beat the location though.
That Italian place down the street, forgot the name, is the only semi good food within walking distance, we both thought it was good

Sandy Shore may not be luxurious, but I am the kind of guy who likes to stay in a shack by the side of the ocean from time to time. Sandy Shore fits the bill. As weather beaten and funky as it may be, the doors locked, wild animals didn't get in, the ceiling didn't leak when it rained and the shower and toilet worked. And a few yards away, without having to cross the road, was the Ocean! I recommend this charming little heap by the sea to anyone who wants to have a beach vacation, as opposed to a stay in a plastic box designed by some multinational hotel company.

I'll make this brief. Do not stay here. Too many negatives to list. You have been warned.
