“Meticulously clean, well located.”

EXCELLENT! Great location. Room was spacious, super clean and comfortable. Staff, organized, competent and accommodating. Safe and easy free parking. Nice complementary breakfast included. By the way, the office does stay open until at least 9PM, after that, you have your own key, to let yourself in the building. Very good experience, with return to this Inn, every time I'll visit this area.

“Not luxury, but a great value. Furniture...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2010

Not luxury, but a great value. Furniture isn't the best but Rooms are in great condition. Staff (appears to be a family business) is friendly, though office is closed after 7pm. Baffles the street from Eastons beach, 10 minutes from downtown Newport. Breakfast is self-serve continental but good variety of cereal, fruits and juices. Very good price, compared to nearby lodging. Would absolutely stay here again.

“Clean and Convenient”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2010

We stayed at Rhea's for two nights while my spouse attended a meeting and I visited Newport. Rhea's is simple, clean and comfortable and about a five minute drive from Newport itself. Because we wake up at 5 AM to jog, we were thrilled that the breakfast is serve-yourself, with items in baskets or in the refrigerator in the lobby.
The only negative factor worth mentioning is that only a few rooms are on the ground level and most require walking up stairs, so anyone unable to climb stairs should make certain they get a first floor room.

“Great as Long as you are Not Expecting 5 Stars (like Atlantis in the Bahamas)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2008

I stayed at Rhea's for a 2 night weekend at the end of April. The location was great, about a block from the beach, and 2 miles from downtown Newport. The room was very nice, looked like it was recently redecorated. The beds were comfortable too.
We didn't splurge for an ocean view or balcony. Our room was on the first floor and didn't have a view except for a parking lot. For $89 it was more than adequate.

Each morning there was continental breakfast which consisted of instant oatmeal, a choice of cereals, Entemann's muffins, danish and coffee cake, as well as bagels, coffee, fruit and juices. It was not a breakfast like you would get at a typical "Bed and Breakfast," but again for the money, it was more than fine.

Also, if the bar scene is your thing, there are about 4 places within walking distance of the hotel. There are also a few restaurants too.

The only negative was the thin walls. This place is more like a house, not like a hotel so the walls were pretty thin. I'm not sure if there was someone staying in the room next to us or above us. But at any rate, we could hear them talking and running water for a shower.
All in all, for the price, rooms, cleanliness and location, i would go back in a heartbeat!

  • Liked — The value and newly decorate rooms
  • Disliked — The thin walls

“Wonderful experience”

Rhea's Inn By The Sea is a wonderfully managed, immaculate inn that clearly has the comfort of guests in mind. The rooms looked like they were completely & recently updated from the bathroom, to the carpet with new looking wooden doors and moldings. The bedroom had a master bath set up & the bathroom was very roomy with lots of counter space for toiletries. It had a hairdryer, shower, hand towel rack, plenty of extra t.p., 2 bars of soap, sample shampoo & conditioner and plenty of towels; also, tissues in thebathroom and bedroom. The bed was comfortable and the linens were immaculate and soft; we had 2 pillows each. We had a sitting room that was very roomy with sliders to a deck with a view of 1st beach. There were 2 couches and a desk with a chair & all were comfortable. The sitting room also had a fridge. There was plenty of hangers/drawers and closet space. Outside the rooms, there was a sitting area with comfortable couches with magazines. We were on the 3rd floor and the railings were secure and the stairs had high traffic carpeting. Fresh coffee was always available and there was a continental breakfast (although we did not use it). The manager was very courteous and friendly. My husband and I stayed for the weekend and we both loved our stay and we will be back.

  • Liked — near beaches and restaurants. near newport attactions. cleanliness & comfort
  • Disliked — needed additional curtain in bedroom due to light leaking around vertical blinds
