“A Memorable Stay”

We loved the Country Goose Inn! Paula was super nice and very helpful. With all her advice we were able to see everything we wanted while we were in Newport. The breakfast was delicious with lots of healthy choices and there was even complementary wine in the evenings. Our room had a small balcony which was nice. The house is located on a quiet street away from the main attractions but if you have a car it's only a 5 minute drive to the beach and the main city center. We raved about this little bed and breakfast to all our friends and family when we got home. If you are looking to enjoy Newport and stay in a comfortable, quiet place then the Country Goose Inn is awesome!

“A fantastic place and warm host make this a memorable visit”

This is a really homely and warm bed and breakfast inn. Nicely positioned to take in the sights of Rhode Island and with an incredibly warm and thoughtful hostess. The hotel website was very informative and we found that the place didn't dissapoint. We found that the hosiptaility far exceeded any other location we stayed at during our visit and were made to feel very much at home and Paula even ran messages for us, ran us into own and allowed us use of her house and her PC - not experienced anywhere else on our visit to the US, must unexpected and welcome. Although we stayed at this Inn in 2006 I felt compelled to write a review after reading a recent dsparaging review. I truely wondered whether we had stayed at the same location. I guess the true benefit of TripAdvisor is to give a balanced view of places and I concur with the earlier review that this is a magical and welcoming place to stay and the hostess was so wonderful I'd like to feel she has become a friend for life.
The place was very clean and rooms were comfortable and tidy. The breakfasts were really enjoyable and hostess was happy for people to help themselves to drinks and snacks throughout the day. Having use of the fridge was very much appreciated for drinks and items of food; only place we experienced this. We also had use of a very welcoming lounge. There was plenty of parking space and use of the external garden and fire - very cosy on warm nights. All in all a wonderful experience, hostess and stay.

“Keep Looking.”

Hans Christian Andersen springs to mind when looking at the CountrygooseBnB web site. First impressions after a long drive were not good. My wife and I were shown, by Paula the Innkeeper, into the dingy kitchen & immediately given a lengthy verbal tour of the whole area and told not to use the computer for e-mail as someone had infected it somehow. She later backed down! She said be careful as our room’s balcony may not support heavy adults (we are not heavy) & explained that some guests were prepared to have more than one shower a day and that she wasn’t prepared to foot the water bill nor the additional electricity bill should they leave lights on. She could have saved extra cash by turning the fridge off as there was next to nothing in it! All of this before we were settled in and unpacked. Relaxing in our Garden Goose room “en-suite bath” would have been a little difficult as there wasn’t one, just a shower. The fan above the bed was less than “the highest quality of cleanliness” but covered in black dirt and if you don’t want your feet looking the same don’t walk around the house bare footed. At our first breakfast it turned out that there was one egg in the place but this was rectified for the next day as she dashed out to the shop to obtain more. On our visit to the U.S.A. we have stayed in some excellent inns with great hospitality and cleanliness second to none. This is not one of them! I could say a lot more, but my advice would be to take the web site with a pinch of salt and give this place a miss. There are much better places around for the same price and in many cases for less.

“Country Charm Nearby Newport Attractions”

Romantic weekend getaway, minutes from Newport Beach, Cliff Walk & Memorial Dr. Beautiful home and gardens with terrific attention to detail. Convenient to Thames St, and marina district, but away from the traffic and crowds downtown. Realx on the front porch, or sit by the chiminera on the back patio with a view of farm fields and open space. Paula is a great host, and really makes an effort to make guests feel at home. Local restraunts offer excellent food and good value. Can't wait to visit again.
