“Great stay with two young kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2010

Traveled to Newport with our 6 and 11 year olds in early August 2010 and we were extremely pleased with the Sea Whale Motel. It was super convenient to the beach for the kids, and we were able to get to Newport proper within minutes for mansion tours and shopping/restaurants. The owners were among the nicest innkeepers we've ever met and this place is SPOTLESS. If you're looking for grandeur this isn't the place; it's basic decor. But if you want a nice, quiet, clean, reasonably priced hotel convenient to everything, stay at the Sea Whale Motel. Oh....can't forget the flowers all around...what a pretty, well-maintained motel!

“Great comfortable and CLEAN motel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2010

Stayed here for one night (9/18)...The owners who live right on site were very friendly and accommodating. We even arrived early (11:30am) and our room was ready. The owners Teri and Gary were very friendly and even gave us some suggestions for places and things to do in the area..My two friends and I have been "getting away" for one weekend a year since our college days (we're in our mid 40's now with families) but I can understand how some hotels may be apprehensive when they see 3 guys pulling into their property...but we're pretty low key and basically never really look for anything or expect anything special in our choice of hotels but I think as we grow older we tend to be a little more choosy...Location was a couple miles from downtown Newport but walking distance (400yards) to the beach as well as a couple local bars and restaurants... The rooms were VERY CLEAN and the grounds and views were beautiful..I would highly recommend this hotel.!

“Excellent vacation with a clean, relaxing hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2010

Newport/Middletown area is a great place with dozens of things to do. We stayed in the sea whale for over a week having a comfortable and relaxing time. The rooms are very clean with good furnishings, great cleaning service, friendly people, with an overall small size creating a great atmosphere. The rooms have a great view onto the reservoir nearby the ocean. Only two minutes away from Second beach which is great and a walk away from First beach, which is OK. Very close to downtown Newport but far enough away that u don't have all the traffic and commotion. Hotel has many amenities with a small refrigerator, a/c the works well, free wi-fi that also works well, and ample parking. Overall the hotel was 10 out of 10 and the vacation was excellent. We're going back!

My fiance loved it and so did I, but the most important thing is that she was very happy. we were supposed to stay for one night then go find another place, we loved it so much that we checked out then came back and rebooked the same room for another night. the scene is lovely, the owners are very dedicated and very friendly and are always there to help answer questions and even give u tips to where to go and how to get to fun filled places. the room is clean and the bathroom is spotless.

“A charming weekend getaway !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2009

Our son is a freshman at college in Newport, and we were looking for a "home away
from home" while visiting him. We found it at the Sea Whale. A charming, spotless
motel less than ten minutes from Newport. The owners are very engaging people, and on site at all times. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again.
If you're looking for a fancy chain hotel with lots of amenities, this is not the place for you.
But if you're looking for a clean, quiet place away from the hustle and bustle, check out
the Sea Whale!
