“Great location- get the A/C room instead of the ocean view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2010

This hotel has an amazing location literally a 2 min walk from the RI ferry. The room is a nice size and comes with a refrigerator and a microwave. I chose an ocean view room since it is rare for the temperature in BI to get above 80 in September and each room is equipped with a ceiling fan. Unfortunately, it was 90 degrees during the days of my stay and the room was a bit too warm. Also, the ocean view rooms are directly facing the ferry, old harbor, and water street and you will get lots of residual noise, sometimes after midnight. The first night of my stay I heard two horns bleering 3 seconds apart every 2 minutes between the hours of 11:30 and 12:30 from the harbor. The other 2 nights I fell asleep before 10:30 and slept pretty well. The housekeepers do a really great job of cleaning the rooms- they came between 11 and 1 every day and the room was spotless every day. The location of this hotel is outstanding- you have the Mohegan Brewery restaurant downstairs, which has amazing food. Every major restaurant in Old Harbor is a 5 min walk or less. You are a 15-20 min walk from Benson town beach which is one of the best beaches I have ever been to on the east coast. Several other beaches are a 10-15 min walk. All in all, the price is very reasonable, especially midweek for Block Island and as long as you get a room with A/C, you should have no objections with this hotel.

“$200 but no air conditioning”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2010

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. The room cost over $200 and it didn't come with air conditioning. We were there in 90 degree weather and they offer hotel rooms without air conditioning. They had a fan, but it moved the hot air around. Not a fun vacation when you cannot sleep through the night because of the heat. Of course you could rent a room with air conditioning, for an additional $100!! Also, the beds squeaked so badly that if someone moved, it woke the other person up. My advice: find another place to stay.

“Great Little Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2010

The location is perfect. Steps from the ferry. Walking distance to great seafood restaurants and quaint little shops. We had the corner room facing the old harbor on the third floor. Room was very clean and comfortable. There was a constant ocean breeze which kept the room very cool at night, so it's OK that there's no AC in the room because you won't need it anyway. There's no front desk inside this inn though. Check-in/check-out is at the Harborside Inn next door. Water Street Inn is a no frills, low key kind of place.

“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2010

This was the second hotel on our trip. My wife and i are easy going travelers so this hotel was just about perfect. Not many frills, but a very clean spacious room. We stayed in room 6, which was on the top floor and a corner room overlooking the harbor. Not an outdated hotel, but nice wainscoting and white walls. No a/c on water front rooms but had a ceiling fan and 3 huge windows overlooking the harbor and town. Had to check in a few doors down at, i believe was the Harborside. The only drawback is that our room faced the harbor, which was great, but it also faced east. The sun sure did come up early and the hustle of the harbor got started pretty early. The maids were great and always had plenty of soap but more importantly lotion! Considering that this hotel was alot cheaper then most on the island, i was a little worried. But in hindsight we would have stayed there the whole time. you walk out the door and your right in town and it only took 6 minutes to peddle to the town beach. there are other beaches closer but we always went to Fred Benson beach, cause they had chair rentals and a pavillion with food and bathrooms. Anyway, great hotel, very reasonable, very clean. Can't wait to go back. Crescent beach is by far one of the best beaches i have ever been. I know that is a bold statement. I have been to alot of beaches, but the sand was deep, the water was clear and warm. No real waves to speak of and it was so sandy, not a rock in sight.

“Worked for us”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2009

We stayed at the Water Street Inn over Labor Day weekend and were pleased with the accomodations. We had a large room in the front, facing the ocean. It was clean & everything was in working order. I'm not sure what the other reviewers were thinking, Its on an island and I didn't come here to talk on a phone in my room or to watch alot of TV. If you want luxury, pay for it.
