We were driving from Ontario to Florida, and stopped overnight at The Sign of the Rose. I have always preferred B&Bs, but my husband was new to the experience.

The house was immaculate, the atmosphere welcoming and the breakfast terrific! What REALLY made the difference, though, was the wonderful hospitality shown to us by Vesta and Terry, the owners. From the guided tour of everything (including how to work the thermostat, and where to find extra blankets) - to the pleasant visit we had with our hosts as we lingered over a great breakfast, Terry and Vesta thought of everything. They were there when we wanted company - but left us to our own devices if that's what we needed. Lovely, gracious people.

Now, my husband wants to try a B&B for our next trip - but we'll be challenged to find one as nice as this one!

Hint: Don't use Google maps to find the place - stick with the directions that are on The Sign of the Rose website. For couples: Ask for the Blue Velvet Room on the top floor – the bathroom on that level has a rainwater shower head in a shower stall big enough for two people.

Wonderful place. Gracious hosts in Vesta and Terry. They even made breakfast for dinner, as I requested, due to me having to leave for the Scranton Marathon the following morning at 5:45 am.

Clean quiet room. Comfiest beds ever. Just an overall great experience. Highly recommended.

My boyfriend and made the trip to Forty Fort to try out Sugar's Tea Room. Since we're from New York, we crashed in Wilkes-Barre for the night at Sign of the Rose. It was beautiful! We had a whole floor to ourselves--private bath, large bedroom with controllable air conditioning, wifi, and lounge room. My only regret is that we didn't spend more time at the house! It was lovely and we had complete privacy. Vesta and Terry supply a guest kitchen stocked full of tea, coffee, and snacks; a beautiful living room with menus, maps, television, DVDs; and of course the elegant dining area. We all ate breakfast together the next morning, and I made sure to tap into the unlimited supplies of coffee and good conversation! Vesta's food was spectacular (a blueberry breakfast tart with spinach three-cheese quiche) and Terry helped us pick a good day-trip before we headed back home.

A great price and unbeatable accommodations--stay at Sign of the Rose!

I love B&B's and have stayed in many. It's obvious that The Sign of the Rose is tended with a lot of TLC, and as guests, we were too. Lovely, comfortable rooms with everything we could possibly need (including robes!) and gracious accommodation made for special dietary needs. We will stay there again.
