After extensive business travel in a myriad of hotels we decided to switch things up a bit and stay at Sign of the Rose. Terry and Vesta were beyond accomodating in every aspect. The house was beautiful and comfortable. I will definitely stay here again and highly recommend. Terry and Vesta are super nice hosts.

The owners really go out of their way to make you welcome. They asked me what I wanted for breakfast ahead of time and made me something special. The rooms are comfortable. A relaxing place to stay.

We tried the Sign of the Rose 3 years ago when we visited our daughter at nearby Wilkes University. We have been back twice since and cannot imagine staying anywhere else when we are in Wilkes-Barre. The hosts, Terry and Vesta, are not only extremely gracious, they are excellent conversationalists, and sincerely love sharing their home (they live in the other half of this cozy, squeaky clean duplex). They do, however, allow you to enjoy your privacy as well. They offer so many amenities it is dificult to list: snacks in the kitchen, many toiletries, interesting reading materials, free wi-fi, tons of movie channels available on TV, abounding informative brochures of the area, and, of course, delicious breakfasts! The house is really charming, beautifully appointed, and we see something "new" each time we are there, as the decorating details are extraordinary. For a bed & breakfast, it is extremely private, as the hosts do not put other parties on the same floor. I recommend the beautiful Blue Velvet Room for a romantic escape (huge shower, with hot water jets!). Since we were able to take advantage of their "stay two nights, get the third night free" offer, the value was amazing. We highly recommend this wonderful bed and breakfast!

We were driving from Ontario to Florida, and stopped overnight at The Sign of the Rose. I have always preferred B&Bs, but my husband was new to the experience.

The house was immaculate, the atmosphere welcoming and the breakfast terrific! What REALLY made the difference, though, was the wonderful hospitality shown to us by Vesta and Terry, the owners. From the guided tour of everything (including how to work the thermostat, and where to find extra blankets) - to the pleasant visit we had with our hosts as we lingered over a great breakfast, Terry and Vesta thought of everything. They were there when we wanted company - but left us to our own devices if that's what we needed. Lovely, gracious people.

Now, my husband wants to try a B&B for our next trip - but we'll be challenged to find one as nice as this one!

Hint: Don't use Google maps to find the place - stick with the directions that are on The Sign of the Rose website. For couples: Ask for the Blue Velvet Room on the top floor – the bathroom on that level has a rainwater shower head in a shower stall big enough for two people.
